Update router settings caused network failure
« on: March 11, 2009, 04:02:30 PM »

So I was running Frimware 1.21 on my router and I updated my port fowrading so I could host games on battle.net. When I did this my router stopped resolve the DNS.

Now I understand that appears to be a known issues with 1.21 so I rolled my drivers back to 1.20 and I was able to use my network again.

Once I did that I Updated my admin logins again and port fowarding and now I get a unidentified network and none of my computers on my network can even access the router config. Just so you know I updated my admin password first said to I would reboot later then updated my port forwarding then selected update now.

Any ideas what to do to resolve this issue. I tried doing a hard reset with the reset button on the back but that doesn't seem to do anything (the router doesn't appear to do a reset nothing happens with any of the lights to indicate a reset has happened)

I am really at a loss on how to correct the problem seeing as how I cannot even access the router config.

vista is like a four year old.

your not holding down the hard reset long enough. The lights will all go out, and I do believe all will flash once at the same time. You'll know when it happens ( I hope anyways).

you'll also want to make sure your own network settings in the adapter are reset. SOunds like you have it set to static, or somethign static. WIndows will say it's unidentified when it cannot find the gateway, which could indicate you had the gateway set to another specific IP address other than it's default 192.168.0.1.

Held it down for 10 seconds then tried 30 seconds to no avail. reset button doesn't seem to work.

I just tried leaving it powered off for a while to see if that works and notta.

Im actually running Windows 7 x64 but my other computer on the network is running XP and its havng the limited connectivity problem.

My IP addres and DNS settings are set to obtain automatically so no its not an issues with a static ip address or gateway.

I don't see how updating port forwarding and my admin password could kill my router but thats what I am thinking happened.
