Web Interface Cannot Access
« on: February 14, 2012, 03:16:21 AM »

It just keeps dropping out.  I can access setup via 192.168.0.1 fine one minute, next time I try the web page cannot be connected via any web browser on the 5 PCs and 4 Laptops I've got.  I took the first 645 back and exchanged but this one is still the same.  I have an 815 also and its bad also.  But my 615s (I've had 2) have been rock solid.  On the 645 I can get back in by rebooting router - it's just annoying.  Any clues anbody?

Cheers

What Firmware version is currently loaded? Found on routers web page under status.

What browser are you using?
Try Opera or FF?

Sorry it took me a minute to reply.  Went to check firmware - "Internet Explorer Cannot Display the Web Page".  Down the stairs, reboot the router, back upstairs and .....  Hardware Version A1, Firmware 1.01.

I use IE9 mostly, also Chrome - makes no differance and I've done all the reset browser, clear the browser cache etc.

It must be something conflicting with the router on my network right? Remember the 815 does it also.  I'm just curious to try and understand what's going on.  I love fault finding.

Thanks for replying!!

For IE9 try compatibility mode.

I would try a factory reset of the router.

Some things to try:
Turn off ALL QoS or Disable Traffic Shaping (DIR only) GameFuel (DGL only and if ON.) options. Advanced/QoS or Gamefuel.
Turn off Advanced DNS Services if you have this option under Setup/Internet/Manual.
Turn on DNS Relay under Setup/Networking.
Setup DHCP reserved IP addresses for all devices ON the router. Setup/Networking
Ensure devices are set to auto obtain an IP address.
Set Firewall settings to Endpoint Independent for TCP and UDP under Advanced/Firewall.

Enable uPnP and Multi-cast Streaming under Advanced/Networking.

Okkee Dokee.  Got all the changes made, went to work, came home, punched in 192.168.0.1 and .... worked!!  I thought you were an absolute genius!  Next day tried again and ... "Internet Explorer Cannot Display the Webpage"

Ho Hum

But it must be something on my network interfering right?  It can't be the browsers, I have every version (IE9, Chrome) plus Ipads ((Safari)  plus Android Tablets (Dolphin) plus Linux (Firefox) - all the same.  And this is the second router.  Plus the earlier problem wth the DIR815.

AAny technical boffins out there?  What on earth could interfere with the functionality of the web interface with Dlink routers?  Remember I've had years out of my DIR615s with no problem.

Cheers!!

Might have someone go over your router settings with you using teamviewer.com.

There is a beta FW update however lets review the settings first if your interested.

Well ... everything has been OK for over a week now.  Somebody mentioned DDNS might relate to this problem.  I went through every device on my netowk and turned off every setting that mentioned DDNS.  The last device I played with was one of my IP Web Cams.  It threw a wobbler, but the router started and stayed working properly.  Now the web cam also works.  Who knows, but I do reckon it was a network device conflict of some sort that caused the router problem.  Hope this helps somebody.

Cheers

Why it's highly recommended to set up reserved IP addresses ON the router and set ALL device to auto obtain IP addresses. Helps to keep conflicts from appearing and helps in trouble shooting. It's also recommended to use ISP DNS at first. Once you get to know the router some and know all about DDNS, then set that up, again, ON the router.

Enjoy.
