Moving files between volumes

Hi,

I need to move 100GB from vol1 to vol2, do you know how to transfer internally without downloading to PC and uploading again?

I've tried with "Web file server" but it crash after some minutes and I have to reboot the nas.

Remote into your NAS via telnet/ssh and use the mv <source> <target> & command, replace <source>/<target> will the actual location. The ampersand (&) at the end will launch it in the background. In another word, there's no need to maintain a active remote session and you can off your PC.

FYI, I and tried and timed it before, moving 100GB of data across volume took around an hour.

I've tried to remote into my nas but I get the message "Connection refused", I've tried adding a rule in firewall and later turning it off without success. Do I need to configure something at nas to allow remote telnet?

By default, DNS-320 doesn't have feature to remote shell so you have to first install FFP. I will not go into details on how to install as it has been asked on many occasion already.

Web File Server should be able to do it for you.  It "goes away" and appears to be locked up, but if you leave it alone it eventually gets the job done.  Just don't close the window, but minimize it if you want.  It does take time to get the data over.  You can actually open up Windows Explorer and see the files appear live if you open up the destination folder if you don't think it's actually working.

Thank you John, I've finally used the "right-click" method and it worked well.
