My router was connected to a primary router,UnUP turned off, router IP address different than the primary router. All was good.

Now the Internet LED light on the front of the 628 is yellow instead of green, I've lost the ability to connect to the internet via the 628. I can access the 628 via the router utility yet sometimes the settings stay sometimes not.

Any ideas? I'm particularly interested in the internet LED changing color.

What Hardware version is your router? Look at sticker under router.
What Firmware version is currently loaded? Found on routers web page under status.

What ISP Service do you have? Cable or DSL?
What ISP Modem do you have? Stand Alone or built in router?
What ISP Modem make and model do you have?
If this modem has a built in router, it's best to bridge the modem. Having 2 routers on the same line can cause connection problems.

Try putting this router in to the DMZ of the host router?

Might need to turn this router in to an AP.

Hardware version is 2

I brought Canadian version of the version to Mexico. Note this was working just fine one week ago. The source modem has a built-in router. I am connecting my dlink 628 to his dlink 615 which in turn is connected to the modem.

I rent a small a small guest house so I do not have access to the modem. My dlink 628 is not available at the moment however the firmware is current.

Once again, although a very strange setup it was working fine.

Any ideas why the internet LED at front changed color from green to yellow? That seems to be an important clue to me.

I would refer you to the user manual for the LED Indications and there meaning. I might presume that the yellow indicates a problem in connecting with the host modem or router. YOu might try putting the 628s IP address it gets from the 615 in to the 615s DMZ.

Check all cabling. CAT6 is recommended.

It's possible that a Canadian region HW could have worked in Mexico for a time however might not be supported and could be compatibility issue.

Tnx for the troubleshooting tips. The dlink-628 maybe technically correct regarding connect connecting a wireless router to a second wired router howeve following directions several times did not result in a successful conclusion. The following link did on the first attempt. I now have wireless once again.
