Cloned MAC Address Issue
« on: February 17, 2012, 08:01:20 PM »

Hello,

Comcast is my ISP and I cloned a laptops MAC Address into my 655 and all is well...for all machines in the house except the laptop whose MAC address I used to clone into the router.  This single machine can access the router, but not the internet.  It has something to do with the fact that this is the "cloned" MAC Address of the router, but I cannot for the life of me figure out what the issue is.

Has anyone see/fixed this?

Thanks

You shouldn't need to clone a MAC to get the Internet to work.  IP addresses are handed out by the MAC address that is why you are having an issue with the one laptop, can't have two of the same MAC address on the network.

Try uncloning the router.  Power down your ISP modem and the router.  Power up the ISP modem and let it fully boot, then power up the router and let it boot up then check your connection.
