Got a threat on ViewCam
« on: February 26, 2012, 05:06:30 AM »

I woke up to this today.

I got rid of the file but wondering if that's an actual viewcam file?

I've fully scanned my computer and nothing else was found.

I did a little searching on hacktool.she but didn't see anyone from here talking about it.

I would call DLink and ask. Possible AVG is listing a false positive on there end.

I had the same experience; when installing D-ViewCam 3.20 on a Windows-7 system
I got the message from Kaspersky that Hacktool.Win32.Delf.afy was
detected on location c:\program files\d-link\d-viewcam\hooks.dll

Kaspersky gives 4 solutions:
1 Desinfect (not possible)
2 Remove (recommended)
3 Ignore (do nothing)
4 Add to list of excludes

Is this a real problem, or a false positive?

By the way, why can't I insert images in the normal way? I do an insert image, but no filelookup browsing after that? Is OK now, thanks to post nr 4

Give Hijackthis a try and run it through www.hijackthis.de to see what other people are saying about that file/and the rest. My guess is though that it is fine, AVG is fairly hardcore and we run a massive amount of exceptions where I work.

This is probably a false positive. Might have to do with the naming convention of the file and coinciding with a known or probable malware file name.

To post pictures on the forum, use a photo repository like photobucket.com or something like that, where you can upload your picture file and the site will give you a IMG url link for each file that you can post in the forum. Then the pictures will display like in the first post.
