Removing 'Volume_1'

Hi,

I setup my DNS-323, named it 'BACKUP', and it all works.

However, when I browse to it, it folders are under a top level folder of 'Volume_1', which is kind of silly to me.

I want it to be:

\\BACKUP\My Files

rather than

\\BACKUP\Volume_1\My Files

Is this possible?

From what I have seen the "volume_x" name is hard set. and can not change it. where you placed the backup name is more a network name for the device.

Volume_1 denotes the first shared "volume" (roughly equivalent to hard drive) in your DNS-323. If you add another hard drive later, it's going to be Volume_2 under standard configuration. You have to have separate names for the two hard drives; it's just that the names are not customizable.

Why not create a 'My_Files' share and use that instead.

In the 'Volume_1' folder create a folder called 'My_Files' and share it through the 'Advanced -> Network' options in the web interface that way you can access your files like this:

\\BACKUP\My_Files\
