I purchased a DSN-320 in March of this year. I want to use it in a RAID-1 for an intermediate backup solution between my home network and my off site backup location (better local performance and I can more easily run virus scans against it before syncing it to the off site backup). The first HDs I bought were two WD20EURS, which I could never get to do any sort of RAID whatsoever. Including JBOD. After investigating, I thought that it was an issue with the drives being AFT, so I RMA'ed them and bought two WD20EFRX, and ran into the exact same issue. This time, I called D-link support and got a dweeb of a tech who took an hour to "figure out" that the issue was I had SATA III drives and the DNS-320 only supports up to SATA II drives. His exact words were "the DNS-320 only supports SATA II drives, it will not work with SATA III drives except in single mode." Well, that naturally pissed me right off, because I had RMA'ed SATA II drives a few days before. So now I have two WD20EFRX drives, which according to this thread WD reports full support for, but even running the newest firmware on the DNS-320 I cannot get the silly thing to work.
Here are the symptoms I am seeing:
- Install HDs, hook up to network, etc
- Install fresh firmware, latest version.
- Check to make sure the DNS-320 is reading both HDs in the HD list. It see's both HDs with the proper reported size (2TB).
- Configure the HDs in RAID-1. The RAID creation seems to work just fine.
- Go back to see if the DNS-320 is still detecting both HDs. It will only detect HD 1 and report health on HD 1.
- Try to rebuild the RAID-1 array, it fails with no apparent error message.
- Power down and reset the DNS-320. After the reboot, it see's both HDs with the correct sizes, but the RAID-1 does not exist and if I recreate it, the cycle restarts again.
So, for anyone who has WD20EFRX or WD20EARS HDs, what did you do to get your RAID-1 setup?

P.S. The thing that pisses me off the most about this whole situation? According to D-link tech support, the DNS-320 supports only SATA II drives...where the hell was that listed in the manual/website/docs/forums?
