If you would like to contribute a HDD you personally tested to this list, please post the HDD make/model/capacity, configuration, length of time in use, and observations (e.g. stability, performance, etc) as a reply to this thread.

i must say that

will format only if it is put ALONE in the NAS.
so if you have a previously fit hard disk in order to format the new 2TB unit you should remove the old HD, insert and format the 2TB disk, then replug the old disk.
thanks to user "daydream" for pointing this out!
this is quite duff !

I'm using an older 320GB Western Digital Caviar Blue WD3200AAKS (JBOD) for over three months now. It works fine (first disk (Volume_1), with Debian Squeeze on it).
