DNS320: Unable to map network drive on Win7
« on: March 19, 2012, 12:43:03 AM »

My network consists of:

Asus RT-56U router
Dlink DNS320
1 Win7 desktop (connected via cable)
1 Mac laptop (connected via wireless)
1 WinXP laptop (connected via wireless)

The problem I'm facing right now is that both the laptops are able to map the network drive and browse the files on the DNS320 whereas my desktop is unable to do so.

I configured the DNS from my desktop and I am able to get a ping response but mapping the network drive would get me an error. I have also tried doing it in Safe mode with networking but it does not work.

Anyone has any solutions? Thanks in advance!

Via IP address. Like this:

Were you ever able to access/map the DNS-320 via any PC on your LAN?

Windows 7? Have you got file sharing and network discovery enabled? Windows firewall enabled or other software firewall?

All firewalls and anti-virus disabled and yes, file sharing and network discovery is turned on

Try disabling/enabling the PC NIC. If that doesn't work, try uninstalling and reinstalling the NIC drivers on your PC. There may be some corruption (or setting change) preventing discovery of random network resources.

Tried disabling, doesn't work. Will get my drivers and try it tomorrow. Hopefully it'll work!  :)

Have you try mapping from command prompt? Eg. net use z: \\ipaddr\Volume_1

Also check if W7 Credential Manager (from Control Panel) and delete entry relating to your NAS.

Also check if W7 Credential Manager (from Control Panel) and delete entry relating to your NAS.

It says that the network path was not found. Credential Manager also has no entries of the NAS
