DAP-1522 AP problem
« on: March 20, 2012, 07:17:29 AM »

Hi all,
I have a DAP-1522 and a DIR-655.
DIR-655 is connected to the internet and I use the wireless on channel 13 as an standard 2GHZ.
DAP-1522 is connected to DIR-655 in AP mode and I use it as a 5GHZ wireless.
DIR-655 DHCP range from 192.168.0.100 - 192.168.0.199.
DAP-1522 DHCP range is 192.168.1.200 - 192.168.1.254.
I also have western digital my book world edition II connected to DIR-655 as backup drive for my mac.
The problem is that when I connect a device, it gets the wrong IP address or does not renew the address. For instance, my laptop, when I connect to DIR-655 wireless sometimes it gets -.-.1.201 then if I connect to DAP-1522, the ip would be -.-.0.- hence no internet connection for me. I have the same issue with my smartphone.
Another problem is that when I am connected to the 5GHZ wireless network, The mac don't see the hard drive.

Thanks.

Try setting up the DAP from scratch using the default IP address on the DAP, the default IP address on the DAP will be 192.168.0.50.

Setup DHCP reserved IP addresses for all devices ON the 655 router. Setup/Networking
Ensure devices are set to auto obtain an IP address.

Change the DHCP range to include .0.#. So the IP address range could be from 192.168.0.1-.99

Are you using the same subnet mask?

I also tried what you said but no luck there. I use the same subnet mask.

So if you get an IP address from the 655 and connect there, you have internet, if you connect thru the DAP you don't?

Can you shut off the DAP DHCP server and let it pass the IP addressing coming from the 655?
What Hardware version is your router? Look at sticker under router.
What Firmware version is currently loaded? Found on routers web page under status.
What region are you located?
I presume the DAP is wired to the back of the 655?

Shutting down the DAP DHCP did the trick. Thanks.

Thanks,
Another problem still persists though. I can not see my MyBook world edition II hard drive when I am on 5GHZ network. I can connect using hard drive IP address but I can not see it in my shared drives otherwise which is a problem since I use the drive as a backup storage. If I connect directly to DIR-655 I can see the drive.

Turn off Short GI, WLAN Partition and Extra Wireless Protection if you have it. Under Advanced/Advanced Wireless.

Disabled short GI, WLAN Partition has two options "Internal station connection" and "Ethernet to WLAN access" which one should I disable?
Anyway disabling short GI didn't help.

The last one I don't have in my settings

Hmm, not sure, however since there is only 2 options, try both and test.  :-\

Should the problem come back. I  think it might. You should just do an ipconfig /all
It tells you what dhcp server you are using. then you connect to it and shut of the dhcp service.
