I'm desesperately trying to backup my local disk to my dns-325. You should extend your faq, nothing there, and if something there it's not working.
using a 3rd party software to do what the dns is suppose to do is a shame

so my config
Backup type: LAN
Logging Method: Account
Account name: same as in Win 7
Password: same as in Win 7
Type: Folder
URL: \\192.168.1.10\users\myname\documents\
Save to: volume_1\backup\laptop_name\documents\
Recurring Backup: every day
Incremental backup: yes

Use the Test button to check that access is successful.

The problem i don't want to backup my all document folder but only one folder inside so my new config

And what about if my folder is not in my documents folder ?

I'm not sure if this will make a  difference, but you have a "\" at the end of the directories that tested successfully, but no "\" on the directories that failed. Also, are you sure you selected copy "directory" and not "file"?

First, using a third party software will use you computer bandwidth / cpu.
Second, could you tell us which software you are using ?

All very true. The benefit of using third party software is the ability to configure advanced rules and settings that the DNS-325's on-board solution may not necessarily accommodate. Once your data is synced, maintaining an incremental backup should not require too much overhead (especially if you scheduled the job during off hours). The primary downside is the requirement that the PC hosting the backup solution must be on at all times.

But as you rightfully pointed out, it's best to do whatever is necessary to protect the integrity of your data.
