Can't establish 1G network
« on: March 21, 2012, 09:44:29 AM »

I'm having a problem with my 320 connecting at 1G, it'll only do 100Mps.  I have it connected to a Dynex 10/100/1000 switch, also my pc won't connect at 1G either.  It's a new switch, so could it be a bad switch?
I have a Linksys 54G wireless router connected to my Cable modem, and one cable going to the switch.  Would a slower nic slow down the switch speed to all computers?

Currently I have a 2T WD HDD in the unit which works great, I also have a 500G drive that came out of a Buffalo EZ which crashed.  But the drive is still good.  It's formatted in the same ext2/ext3 format as the 1T drive, but when I add it the 320 shows Volume_2 but the drive shows a linux installation.  I hook it up to an Abuntu box and all my backup files/directories are there.  Why isn't it showing up the directories?

I would definitely check out a different switch.
Check cables, swap out to be sure. Cat6 is recommended.

In the Web UI (Management > LAN Setup > Link Speed), did you check whether the Link Speed is set to either "Auto" or "1000"?

Ensure devices and PC's NICs support Gb connections and drivers are updated for NICs and sometimes NIC Properties need to be set up for Gb speeds. Refer to Mfr information for those NICs.

I would check the cable, make sure you have at least Cat5e, otherwise, you will never get 1gb speed.
cat5: 10/100
cat5e:10/100/1000
