upload/ download after 1.06 firmware installing
« on: March 18, 2009, 09:14:25 AM »

I have noticed that upload/ download operations with DNS after installing 1.06 dramatically decreased under Vista 32 Ultimate, if before was e.g. 3-5 MB/s, after was no more than 500 KB/s.
I noticed also several problems with explorer task while refreshing catalogs by opening on DNS (sometimes that crashed explorer).
I returned to 1.05 (by that operation is better to have cfgbackup because my DNS restarted all data after changes) and everything is OK now. Also problem with web utility error in 1.06 finished.
Does anybody notice the same?

UPDATE: I think, we have the same problem, as describbed here: http://forums.dlink.com/index.php?topic=4671.0

Two totally different scenarios, and although I'm not using Vista Ultimate - I've had no problems with either Home Premium or Business - as far as I know Ultimate is Business with the multimedia extensions of Home Premium, or if you like Ultimate is Home Premium with the networking extensions (domain authentication & security) of Business.

In that other thread, the problem relates specifically to deleting files, not to uploading/dowloading or explorer crashing - and with Windows 7 (64bit), there is a noticeable performance degradation in deleting files as compared to XP (or Vista), but in my case, nowhere near that described by the original poster, and also not a true comparison as the XP system was on gigabit, and the W7 system on 100mbit.

RAID1 is for disk redundancy - NOT data backup - don't confuse the two.

Sure that are different scenarios, cos e.g. differ systems (not so differ as we think they are ;D), but I said they are the same, because also delete/ move commands were slower than usual. I was thinking that is obvious :(
