Do you think Dlink will issue a Firmware Update?
« on: March 25, 2012, 05:02:13 PM »

It's been a longtime between drinks and quite frankly, I am really frustrated that DLINK haven't addressesed the bugs. Do you think they have given up on development?

If i was certain i could return to the old version i would give it a try.
But I'm afraid it might work like the other beta update and not allow us to downgrade, so until someone confirms it can be downgraded i think I'll pass ;)

I strongly caution against using firmware posted on non-US D-Link sites that are not specifically labeled for US, North America (NA), or worldwide (WW) distribution. From past experience, subtle variations in manufacturing from region to region may result in different firmware requirements. Using firmware slated for region "A" in a region "B" device may render the hardware inoperable.

In the long run, the firmware may in fact be supportable in the US, but until D-Link openly posts compatibility information, please refrain from posting links to non-US supported firmware on this forum.

Noted but do put this up as sticky topic otherwise it will simply get buried overtime and others will continue to post. FYI, I also came to know about this URL from a fellow user here.

D-Link expressly communicated to me that facilitating access to non-sanctioned firmware is not permitted in this forum. Eager users who unwittingly use incompatible firmware may render their DNS-320 inoperable and potentially void their warranty. Granted, many users know the usual sources where firmware is posted (both domestically and abroad), but D-Link's position is to let them find it on their own, not have it posted on this board.

Good idea with the sticky post, I'll work on that later this week.  ;)

I received clarifying information from D-Link regarding the FW mentioned earlier in this thread.  D-Link informed me that this international FW (in it's present state) is not intended for NA (North America). A new firmware for NA is being prepared for release.  Please refrain from installing any firmware not slated for NA or WW use.

I received some clarifying information from D-Link about the firmware discussed earlier on this thread.
The fixes in that beta firmware are specifically related to issues in Northern Europe and Central Europe and are not applicable to the U.S.

Again, a US/NA version is forthcoming. Hang tight.  ;)

Does anybody have a list of the fixes in this 2.03 beta? (I live in the UK, so it's actually applicable to me...)

So nothing really special then  :(

Too be honest D-link have done alright with the support on this budget NAS box. Lets face it, it is a cheap entry into NAS storage and for the most part work very well for the money.

D-Link has their niche in the marketplace. And yes, their storage solutions have a reasonable (and affordable) price-to-performance ratio.
