Author Topic: IPv6 Router Advertisements appear to be dropped or filtered on DAP-1522  (Read 7311 times)

I am having trouble with a DAP-1522 in AP mode dropping IPv6 packets.  It is running in AP mode to supply connectivity to a number of laptops + a 2nd DAP-1522 in bridge mode.   The laptops are able to get IPv6 router advertisements from the same wired network the DAP-1522 is plugged into, but they get nothing when connection to the wireless.   Tcpdump sees no router adv's coming over the wireless interfaces when sniffing.

This appears to be something others have hit as well:  http://lists.litech.org/pipermail/radvd-devel-l/2010-March/000462.html

Any chance this could be fixed in a firmware upgrade?

Might be due to that this model DAP is not IPv6 supporting or compliant.  :-\

I think the DAP-1525 is IPv6 supporting...

I was just a bit surprised that it cares what the contents of the ethernet frames it receives are.  It seems a bit odd that it'd actually inspect and actively drop anything but IPv4 ethernet frames.  I guess I was expecting it to work more like a switch in this case since I'm using it as a bridge.

Understandable thinking. However if this model doesn't know how to handle IPv6 or seems something that it can't handle, then I presume those just get dropped. Even in Bridge, there is some processing going on I presume.

Let us know what you resolve this with.
