Recommendations for new D-Link router
« on: April 04, 2012, 09:13:48 PM »

A thunderstorm about 3 hours ago fried my DIR-655 rev. A3 router. I heard a zapping noise and that was it. All the signals are messed up, even after a hardware reset, and the router runs extermely hot, with lots intermittently blinking and no connections.

I need another router with similar features, especially with a USB port for my printer.

I found the DIR-655 reliable a long as it lasted, but I never upgraded the firmware, which was fine with me. Nonetheless I want to buy a more modern solution.

Talking to tech support at D-Link the DIR-825 was recommended. I also see a DIR-855 which has a USB port but evidently no Shareport support, but just Microsoft Connect Now support. Does anyone know which router is better and more advanced, or if there is another better router to buy with a USB port so i connect a USB printer I have ?

The 825 is a great router. Also the 857 just released too. I responded to your thread in the 825 forum as well.
