Hello!
I received a DIR-635 yesterday with the intention of creating a wireless N network. I have a Netgear DG834GT and an ADSL connection. I've got the two wired together through the length of the house and ideally I would like to use the Netgear for B/G and the DIR-635 for N.

I plugged it in and turned off DHCP and UPnP. I have changed nothing on the Netgear. The confusion I have comes from the router's visibility and connectivity to different devices. For the following the wireless is running in mixed B/G/N.

On a visible unencrypted connection:

• Android devices: Network is visible, able to connect
• Desktop Linux devices: Network is visible, able to connect
• Windows 7 devices: Network is not visible, unable to connect

On a visible WPA/WPA2 connection:

• Android devices: Network is visible, able to connect
• Desktop Linux devices: Network is visible, unable to connect
• Windows 7 devices: Network is not visible, unable to connect

I've tried using WPA only and WPA2 only but the results were the same. Tried using two Android phones, one desktop Linux device and three Windows 7 devices.
I've tried leaving it unencrypted and turning MAC filtering on. No luck.
The router's hardware revision is A1 and the firmware version is 1.09W, can't find anything newer for A1.
When the connection fails from desktop Linux devices, the log shows this:

Wireless system with MAC address XXXXXXXXXXXX disconnected for reason: Received Deauthentication.
Any help or pointers would be really appreciated, I'm completely bewildered. I hope I've posted all the relevant information. Thanks!

Try single mode G or N or mixed G and N?
Preferred security is WPA-Personal. WPA2/AES Only. Some WiFi adapters don't support AES, so you might want to try TPIK only or Auto.

G only and Mixed G and B work occasionally but not reliably. My windows devices connect and can access the internet with no hitches. My Linux machines are connecting but aren't getting any internet access. I'm even more bewildered now!
All modes seem to work sporadically work apart from mixed B/G/N- which is unfortunately what I need because not all of my devices are N-capable. Mixed G/N isn't available, assuming it's something added in later versions.
The host router is working fine for G connections so I'm assuming it's nothing to do with the ISP.

Preferred security is WPA-Personal. WPA2/AES Only. Some WiFi adapters don't support AES, so you might want to try TPIK only or Auto.

Despite the screenshot in the manual, firmware version 1.09W only has one dropdown box. The three options are Auto, WPA2/AES and WPA/TKIP. I'm currently using WPA/TKIP.

SO you have a host router that has wireless? Can you turn this wifi OFF? It maybe be interfering with the 635s radio.

Any other WiFi routers in the area? Use InSSIDer to find out.
Turn off Short GI, WLAN Partition and Extra Wireless Protection if you have it. Under Advanced/Advanced Wireless.

I can detect 16 networks- unfortunately there's not much I can do about these! You maybe running into an issue where these other networks are interfering and being so many, they are taking up and using all available channels.

Only option of these available to me is Short GI, just turned it off now. I'll check shortly whether it makes any difference. Thanks!

Any chance you can take this router to a different location like a friends house or familys place just to test? I'm wondering if upgrading to 5Ghz will be a better option for you due to the over crowding on the 2.4Ghz band.
