I just had this same issue. Hourly disconnects. I'm on Bright House Cable 30mbps. The Modem/Router they provide was giving a lease for 3600 seconds and then renewing. I just set up the 'fix' talked about, manually setting a static ip address. After saving the config and reconnecting, the lease time given changed to 604800. Would prefer an infinite lease, but if this works it is better than an hourly reset.

I have been connected now with the static IP for over 8 hours. The fix mentioned above where the modem/router is leasing the IP to your DIR 645 appears to be working. Basically I copied the WAN info, under the dlink status menu, into the fields required when you go to the manual internet connection setup option. This option is on the page displayed when you first login to the router.

This, unfortunately does not work for me. I'm able to connect to the internet when using the static IP configuration. But around an hour after the configuration, I'm cut off completely from the internet. Rebooting the router won't do the trick. Reconfiguring it to dynamic IP works though. I've attempted repeatedly to configure it to use static IP, but the same thing happens after about 1 hour. I'll have to return the router tomorrow, since theres no working solution to this problem(for me atleast there isn't). I hope a new router solves the problem.

I found the solution! I contacted my ISP and they told me to enable unicasting under dynamic setup. It seems like the router asks for a renewal of it's IP address, gets a response, but for some reason ignores it. It then keeps ignoring every answer it gets and evetually the lease time runs out. My ISP thinks it's a bug and it's not something at their end. Anyways, it solved to problem, so I'm happy :)
