New with DNS 320 starting
« on: April 16, 2012, 02:24:12 PM »

Hello to all. Thats my first post. Today I received my new NAS DND320 and I have a question.
I connected a Seagate 500 Gb HDD to the right bay of the NAS, connected to the network and start it.
Two lights blue appears, power and hdd.
I try to install the instalation cd in my windows 7 64 bits, and appears wizard. I continue with it but in the steep of NAS configuration>Device Selection dont appears any device in the window.
After a pair or minutes the power led disappears and only continue the blue light of right hdd
Any help? Thanks for your patiente.

Find the IP address ( usually your router will tell you this ) and configure with the web interface.

OK, let's start at the beginning.

Assuming your network is in the range 192.168.1.xxx.

Open your web browser and type in http://192.168.1.37 and hit return.  This should get you the web interface of the DNS-320.  If it doesn't then you most probably have some sort of network problem which can range from the router not being configured correctly to windows firewall blocking access.

Simple answer - yes.

Long answer, it depends on the router and how it is set up.

Here we use switches on the network with a couple of wireless routers off the switches, used just as wireless access points. the only other thing is the ADSL modem.

I assume your router supplies DHCP for your network.  I also assume DHCP is in the  192.168.1.xxx range.  You need to check that 192.168.1.37 is included in that range, if it isn't you will have problems.

Since you are using windows you should get the SoftPerfect network scanner (netscan.zip) and use it to see if your DNS-320 appears on the network.  If it doesn't and the indicator lights on the ethernet ports of the DNS-320 and router show there is a connection then you should check the router settings.
