Is there any tweak to increase transfer speed between folders on the same HDD in DNS-325? in my DNS-325 i have 1 folder for movies, 1 folder for 2P2(torent, incomplete, complete). When i moved file in the complete folder (2P2) to movies folder it seems like the DNS-325 using the wireless on my laptop to transfer the file my max speed is only 8Mb/s. I then tried the same method using wired PC connected to router, the speed increased a lil about 20Mb/s. I'm wonder if there is a way to increase the transfer speed a lil bit, specially when transfer between folders on the same HDD, or i did something wrong here?

The DNS-325 treats the native P2P folder and primary data folder (Volume_1) as two separate logical volumes, although both reside on the same physical HDD. Due to this configuration, your PC/laptop see the two volumes as two separate HDDs.

When you move files between those two volumes using your PC/laptop, your local network is used to make the transfer (wireless for your laptop and wired for your PC), because the files are moved from the DNS-325 to your PC/laptop local memory and back to the DNS-325.   Conversely, moving files between folders within the same logical volume (e.g. between two sub-folders within the P2P volume) will not require this local network overhead.

If you must manually move files between these two volumes, you will have the best results using the PC with the fastest network connection. You can avoid using your local network when moving files between these two volumes using the DNS-325 on-board backup functionality.

Thanks JavaLaywer for the quick respond. It clears my mind now. I kept thinking it was me doing something wrong here. Could you please, explain lil more on-board backup functionality, thanks.

If you log into the web UI and navigate to Applications > Local Backups you can schedule a recurring (nightly) backup of the P2P Volume to a dedicated sub-directory in Volume_1. Just make sure you select "Incremental" backup.

You'll still have to manually delete the files from the P2P folder each morning after they are copied over during the night, but at least you won't have to deal with the copying process tying up your network or computer.

When i set-up local backup it gave me only choice of volume1, P2P volume is not visible in the URL path. Did i miss something here, thanks.

If I'm not badly mistaken, the Web File Server under Applications will let you easily manage files & folders, including moving and copying. Just navigate to the source, right-click the item and pick action.
And it indeed does happen inside NAS, not over network/PC.
For the illustration refer to page 95 in the User Manual: DNS-325_A1_Manual_v1.00(WW)

Thanks for pointing out this functionality, as I don't have access to this ShareCenter model. :-\
And yes, if you can access the source and destination directories using the web file server, this will move/copy the files wholly from within the NAS, avoiding using local network/CPU resources.

I confirm, it is possible to quickly move one file/folder inside NAS using application "Web File Server" without giving this job to PC (we have to use the mouse right-button to select the "Move" option - unfortunately it is not possible to do this using an Android web browser :-).
