My network players do no see the NAS (Samba share)
« on: May 30, 2012, 01:36:29 AM »

I have that issue with two players - Apacer and Noxxon, so I believe it is not because of them.
I use a home network and all my PCs and devices (including players ans the NAS) are in "workgroup" group.
So my players simply doesn't see the NAS as a SAMBA share if some of my PC's are not turned on. If they are there is no problem. But if I've forgotten to turn on a PC first I need to do it and in a 20-30 seconds the player starts to see the shares.
Any idea?

I found this topic when I searched for an answer to this question. Unfortunately nobody provided an answer. I solved it myself and provide my solution here for whenever somebody else bumps into this topic.

The solution is the smb.conf where local master = no should be local master = yes.
This file is present as /etc/samba/smb.conf.
After modifying the file execute: smb restart

Note1: after reboot of the NAS the change is gone and should be reapplied
Note2: I saw this issue on the wishlist after FW2.03 with remark about browse master

How do you change the local master setting to yes from no?
