I can't adjust my motion detection area's because my java always has an application error....Any assistance would be greatly appreciated!

Exactly same problem---on two computers with Windows XP, I am about to try the third with Vista.

Hi Guys,

More info: Fired up my laptop  today (win7 premium - 64) that did not have Java installed. Installed Java and opened my browser (Opera 12.0). Could log into mydlink, but was warned that Opera is not supported. I continued anyway, but did not work.

Next step, opened up IE 9.08, logged into mydlink alright, went to advanced settings, live camera, but only static image, no streaming video. When selecting ActiveX, streaming works. Selecting Java, the rotating Java circle appears for a second and then the usual error message comes up. Same happens in motion detection tab.

Logging into the camera via the IP address (http://202.159.0.0:80) things work as described above. The exception is that when selecting Java in the live camera tab, the circle comes up and window freezes. When going strait to motion detection tab, the circle comes up and rotates forever, but program doesn't freeze and can be exited normally.

I am getting exactly the same result on my desktop (win 7 ultimate - 32) using either IE or Chrome.

What do I do? Heeeeeeelp!!!!

Try without the https.

In my case : https://192.168.0.28/motion.htm => http://192.168.0.28/motion.htm
Then the screen is correctly displayed.

I spoke to their support tonight. They told me you have to be on the same network as the camera and go straight to the ip address for the camera on the net and enable motion detection there. Then you will be able to use the motion detection remotely. I will check it out this weekend.

I tried this out today using firefox. I was locally attached via the same router. I entered the IP address for the camera directly into a new browser tab. I was able to access the motion detection page with the video and the grid.

You can find the address in the address bar on the page that is generated after you access the advanced settings from the settings page for the camera via mydlink.com. For instance, I think mine was 192.168.0.12. It will vary by home network and how many devices are connected to it.

I want to thank Stu-in-flag for his help in solving the motion detection problem with the DCS-932L.  It worked perfectly and now I can save the few remaining hairs I have.  Thanks again Stu.

I always login using IP address to change settings and had this same issue but not until updating firmware on both 932l and 930l.  Tried 3 different Comps 2 win 7 and 1 Mac.  At one point i could connect to the 930 no issues but the 932 would not load Java, then it all stopped working.  After unplugging the cams for couple mins it seemed to fix it.

I finally got mine to show the grid.  Since my web address does not have https, I added it.  Then it gave me the error, so I removed the 's' and the grid appeared.

See if that works for you guys.  I updated my Java too and used IE8.

I have sorted this problem like this:
1. Uninstall Java
2. Download Offline Java 32bit
3. Download Offline Java 64bit
4. Install both Javas in order.
5. Re-open your Internel Explorer and try to access camera Motion Detection.

This started working on mine. Good Luck

I had the same problem, did a search and that's how I found this forum.

First off stay away from IE64. I don't think they officialy support it, and I had frequent problems just getting live images to work, never mind the setup stuff.

Even with IE9/32, the ActiveX "invalid certificate" problem kept me from getting the motion detection window up.

So I went to Chrome / Java, and per this forum I logged in directly with http not https and that fixed it. Thanks!

This seems like a pretty glaring problem that D-Link should fix or at least document.
