Network Access Problem!
« on: April 03, 2009, 07:15:36 PM »

I have been trying to set particular folder 'INVOICE' on DNS321 to be accessed only by particular user and everything else on network storage by anybody else, but unsuccesfully. Even spent over 4hrs with phone technical support.
Once user created and new rule in Network Access created for 'INVOICE' default rule of ALL access automatically deleted.
Fine. Save settings. Exit.
Problem 1.
As soon as try to get into Volume_1 automatically prompted for Username and Password even though did not even get to 'INVOICE' yet.
Problem 2.
Username and password incorrect. Not able to get to any data on drive.
To be able to get to data had to restore Default Settings back. Users deleted and ALL rule back.
I presume I am not only one trying to do this and since I did not find anybody posting about this I presume again it is solvable but how?
Using firmware 1.01. Did not even get yet to try to set FTP server. Already scared.

This is a bug in the 1.01 firmware that will be resolved in th next firmware release. Firmware 1.00 does not have this issue if you want to revert back.

I rebooted and the ALL rule is gone. How do I get it back? I do not want users to have to enter username/passwords to access the device.

Thanks

I have installed 1.02 firmware and on my system ALL checkbox problem has been resolved, but still problem with network acces. I have set two folders Public and Private on Volume_1 and set ALL rule for Public and pin user for Private. On my computer I am logged on as a Jake. If I acces Public thru Network Locations no problem. If I acces Private folder Vista prompts with username and password as it should. But when I type pin and password I am denied. If I set on DNS username Jake to acces Private, and then try acces it I am allowed without prompting for name or password. Problem unresolved.
I want to be prompted by username and password everytime when I try to acces Private regardless of logged on person on computer. Is that possible?
