Restoring from Time Machine

It's nice the NDS-325 supports Time Machine Backups. But how does one restore from them? I've booted into Recover mode on my Mac and mounted the share manually:

mkdir /Volumes/TM
mount_afp -1 aftp://1.2.3.4/TM /Volumes/TM

It successfully mounts, but doesn't show up in available Time Machine backups. So again, while it's super cool to offload my TM backups, having access to them would be even cooler.

I personally don't use this NAS for TM backups (I use Apple AirPort Extreme) but so far it has never been necessary to mount the backup volume. The "Restore From Time Machine Backup" utility on recovery partition finds the correctly announced (yes - Bonjour : _adisk._tcp service announcement) TM volumes automatically and provides you with a selection to choose from.
PS In order to be able to make a full restore (incl working copy of OS X) it is imperative to have a full system backed up (ie you can't exclude the system files from BU).
