Do I need a setup CD or what?
« on: July 28, 2012, 11:27:00 PM »

I have a DIR-825 coming. Was supposed to be here Tuesday, but to my surprise I had checked tracking today and it was out for delivery! Damnit! Our office is closed on weekends and I drove down (even though it was 4:30pm) to try and see if the mail man is still out delivering or if he was going to return his truck.. no luck waiting in the post office parking lot. LOL! GRR.. had to vent.

Anyway, I read here about one person not using the CD to setup things and after he set everything up he said he should have. I also read another thank you topic where Furrynutz helped someone setup a router and probably spent an hour with him.

Do I really need that long to setup something? When I got my Netgear all I did was plug the sucker in. Two ethernet cables in the back. Done. Later on I added a wireless device in the living room so I setup a name and key. Done.

I still have the same devices, except going to add my Girlfriends Daughter and QOS her bandwidth.

You can either use the CD, router web page wizard or manually set up the router as well.
