PS Also noted that the wife's laptop is not discovering it either.
I'll presume you already formatted at least one HDD in the DNS-320. To discover/access the HDD you must map directly to the HDD, not just the IP address.
Try this: \\[IP_ADDRESS_OF_DNS-320]\Volume_1
The default name of the first HDD formatted on the DNS-320 is "Volume_1"
Hi have just purchased DNS-320. Have run set-up disk and drive appears on my laptop via Bell Wireless home network.
Have been trying to set up a LAN Backup i.e. copy/move folders to the DNS however having problems entering the URL. Sadly nothing in the manual for the first time user (me).
Settings are to LAN BAckup on Anonymous.
Have copied my IP address prefacing it with \\ which reports back a failed test result and file size unavailable also tried using laptop name; same result.
Grateful for anyone who can guide this newbie through the LAN Backup setup as clearly D-link have failed to provide the goods!
Same advice as above. Try mapping to the drive letter after the IP address.
Example: \\192.168.1.6\c\data\music
The IP address will locate the device, but to locate the HDD in that device requires mapping to the path of the HDD itself. The reason for this approach is that many PCs have multiple physical and logical HDDs, so you must select the specific HDD name/drive letter of interest.
