Can't acces Youtube videos on my computers and iPad
« on: August 05, 2012, 03:36:15 PM »

And I can't seem to access Google and Youtube on my iPad, even Yahoo doesn't work. It all started when I updated my DIR-655 to the newest firmware 2.07NA because I wanted to have an Open NAT for my PS3 because it was set on Strict and I wasn't able to fix it other than updating my router. Now, Youtube works, but I can't play any videos, it's keep in a infinite loop. And I can't access some sites, such as Google, Youtube Facebook and Yahoo, on my iPad, it just won't load.

I just don't know what to do, I'm not really a crack when it comes to router, I don't know jack about my router to be honest, I know how to set the Wi-Fi, forward ports but that's basically all. It seems that it is a firewall problem, but I don't even know how my firewall settings works! UDP and TCP are set on Endpoint Independent but putting them into default doesn't do much, well it does nothing.

If someone have the solution, please share with me because it is starting to get ridiculous, the DIR-655 is full of problems! My connections was always jumping, IP Conflict but now it's fixed, Flash videos wasn't able to run outside Youtube but now it's fixed, and now this. Help!

Link>Welcome!
Let see if we can get some information from you so we can better get an idea of your set up.
I doubt the DIR-655 is "FULL" of problems as mine and others are working well for them. We just need to help you get the configuration right.

What region are you located?
Are you wired or wireless connected to the router?

What ISP Service do you have? Cable or DSL?
What ISP Modem do you have? Stand Alone or built in router?
What ISP Modem make and model do you have?
If this modem has a built in router, it's best to bridge the modem. Having 2 routers on the same line can cause connection problems.
Double NAT
To tell if the modem is bridged or not, look at the routers web page, Status/Device Info/Wan Section, if there is a 192.168.0.# address in the WAN IP address field, then the modem is not bridged.
If the modem can't be bridged then see if the modem has a DMZ option and input the IP address the router gets from the modem and put that into the modems DMZ.

Some things to try: - Log into the routers web page at 192.168.0.1.
Turn off Advanced DNS Services if you have this option under Setup/Internet/Manual.
Turn on DNS Relay under Setup/Networking.
Setup DHCP reserved IP addresses for all devices ON the router. Setup/Networking
Ensure devices are set to auto obtain an IP address.
Set Firewall settings to Endpoint Independent for TCP and UDP under Advanced/Firewall.
Enable uPnP and Multi-cast Streaming under Advanced/Networking
.

Link>Wireless Installation Considerations
What wireless modes are you using? Under Setup/Wireless/Manual.
Try single mode G or N or mixed G and N?
Channel Width set for Auto 20/40Mhz or try 20Mhz only.
Try setting a manual channel to a open or unused channel. 1, 6 or 11. 11 for single mode N if the channel is clear.
What security mode are you using? Preferred security is WPA-Personal. WPA2/AES Only. Some WiFi adapters don't support AES, so you might want to try TPIK only or Auto.
What wireless devices do you have connected?
Any cordless house phones?
Any other WiFi routers in the area? Link> Use InSSIDer to find out. How many?
Turn off WISH, and WPS under Advanced.
Try turning off Short GI, WLAN Partition, and Extra Wireless Protection if you have it. Under Advanced/Advanced Wireless.

Turn off all anti virus and firewall programs on PC while testing. 3rd party firewalls are not generally needed when using routers as they are effective on blocking malicious inbound traffic.
Turn off all devices accept for one wired PC while testing.

Check cable between Modem and Router, swap out to be sure. Link> Cat6 is recommended.

Maybe someone can review your router settings with you using Link> teamviewer if your interested. Its safe and secure.

Also have a look at the Gaming and Gamefuel sticky for PS on the FAQ Library. This will help you get the PS NAT status to OPEN or NAT type 2.

My region : Québec, Canada near Montréal, so shouldn't be a problem for juice.
Well, on this Laptop I am wired.

ISP Service : Cable or Optical Wire
Stand Alone modem
ISP Modem = Arris TM722G
Nope, no build-in router.
I guess my Modem is briged, I see 66.131.***.***

Did all the things you told me to do, nothing worked. And it's not a firewall problem or anything else because it all began when I updated my router to 2.07NA!

What version of FW did you have on it before updating?
When you updated, did you follow this? FW Update Process

2.00, and I guess, since I just uploaded the firmware into my router and let it do it's job. And I did do the Factory Reset, I just did it like 10min ago after seeing that the tweak you propose to me did not do anything at all.

I would go back and do a factory reset, reload the FW, reset once more then do a quick test after setting up the router to make sure it's connected to the ISP modem and see what happens. Don't load any saved config files, just set up from scratch. Try different browsers to test. Let us know what happens.

Is this happening with IE? All this is after you did a factory reset, updated and factory reset once more?
Any chance you have a neighbor, friend or family member that you can try this router with this version of FW  out on? Seen many different issues with these Arris modems. I still dont' care for them. If the router worked before you updated, I would go back and you could try v2.03 or v2.00 and see if the problem goes away.

I'm not that stupid, I'm not using IE haha! Yup, still doesn't cut the deal. And it's not the Arris modem, I'm telling you! It is the router, my modem doen't have to do anything in there, I didn't updated my modem, I updated my router! And I can't seem to get back to v2.00 because I can't seem to find it on the DIR-655 official page, there's only V1.00 and when I factory default it still stays to V.207NA. Get me a link so I can downgrade, because I can seem to find any on Google.

Cut it already, it's your product that I bought, I'm not wasting my time with them? All I want is the solution to my problem, not to get away from it. Get me the FW V2.03 and I will try, not the V2.00 ; I still want an Open NAT for my PS3.

Teamviewer is a tool we use here in the forums to help others out, check router settings and help configure routers remotely. We've helped many other users with router set up using this tool. We understand if your not interested or willing to give that a try. If so, then you'll need to your local DLink tech support office for there help.
