I'm trying to set up my DIR-835. I keep getting "Authentication failed".  All I want to do is use the damn thing.  What should I do?

Intial login is 

User Name = admin
Password = <blank>

My 835s were a bit of a PITA setting up as you'll see in the post.

What browser are you using?
Try Opera or FF? If IE 8 or 9, set compatibility mode and test again.

I didn't have any trouble setting my 835 up using Opera, Safari, IE or FF.
Also setting up external routers with ISP modems with built in routers can be a PITA.

I had this very same problem with IE 7, 8, & 9 on 4 different computers.  I had turned OFF DOM storage under Advanced Settings.  Soon as I ENABLED that, it worked just fine.  Hope this helps you.

I figured mine out on my own. There's a link to an earlier post of mine describing how I beat the problem in the post you've quoted. The OP was the one having a prob. Mine's been fine for quite a while now.
