Firmware 2.02NA or 2.07NA?
« on: September 08, 2012, 10:18:47 PM »

Hello everyone!

I've been content with my DIR-825 on 2.02NA; although now for some reasons unknown I can't get my Xbox 360 slim with N support to see the 5Ghz radio set to N? I've changed channels, frequency widths, removed security, etc...

Is there special settings to accomplish this? I didn't try setting the 2.4Ghz channel to N, is that's what is needed?

Thanks to anyone that can shed some light on this situation issue I am having.

It's not FW or the router that will fix this. The xbox does not support 5Ghz radios. Only 2.4Ghz radios. Yes it should connect at N speeds on 2.4Ghz. If your wanting to connect at 5Ghz with the router and xbox, you'll need to get the 5Ghz wireless USB adapter from MS, not sure if it's being made anymore. I have one and it works well. If it's not available, I would review DLinks DAP model bridges, DAP-1522, 1525 or 1533. These will work in place of the USB adapter connecting to the LAN wired connection to the xbox, then the DAP will connect wirelessly to the 5Ghz radio on the 825.

Might look like this:
ISP Modem>DIR-825> Wireless 5Ghz ><DAP-15##>Wired LAN to the back of the DAP to the Xbox 360.
You can put the DAP right next to the Xbox and keep the LAN wire short if you like or make the length longer if needed. I recommend shorted length possible.

Also Review the following for XBL:
Gaming and Gamefuel for XBL.

Let us know if you need any more help and let us know how it goes.

Yes dead on right...! The Xbox went online with the 2.4Ghz N mode. Thanks for the input and guidance to fixing this issue. Now, in regards to the firmwares is 2.07 stable? Pros and Cons of the 2.07?

Thanks for all info and insight :)

Firmware   2.07   4/04/2012
Revision Info:   ¤ Update: Disable WPS-PIN Method
If your not concerned about this then you don't need it. It can be easily turned off by disabling WPS under Advanced/Wireless Protection. This FW does not impact performance or operation.
Note: In order to upgrade the firmware version 2.07 properly, you must first upgrade to firmware version 2.06NA.
   Firmware   2.06NA   8/11/2011
Revision Info:   ¤ Fixed: IPv6 issue.
¤ Added: IPv6 routing table in status.
If your not effected or using IPv6, then this FW version can be skipped.

Overall, if you not experiencing any problems with the router, Keep whats loaded. However if you just gotta have th latest and greatest, the by all means, go for it. Each version is stable an good to load. There are requirements if your on older FW, you need to load up v2.05 first, before loading v2.06. If your going to load v2.07, then v2.06 needs to be installed first.

I upgraded to 2.07NA directly from 2.02NA.  Did not go to 2.06 first.

I pressed the restart pin hole for about 30 - 40 secs when it gave a different UI.  Then upgraded it.

Glad you got to work, However, the reason for putting 2.06 on before 2.07 is for normal users and should follow the recommended upgrade process to ensure that the upgrade is successful and applies correctly. I recommend highly that users follow DLinks official information regarding upgrading on the DIR-825.

Enjoy.
