Help! Set up RAID 1 with WD Drives
« on: November 04, 2012, 05:13:33 AM »

Hi All,

Need some urgent advice - I've just bought the DNS 320 to use in RAID 1 Config , but in the Web-based Wizard, it does not allow me to set up the drives as RAID 1. I click on the option for RAID 1 >> Click Format >> I have tried formatting 3 times but it always comes back as Standard for Volume 1 and Volume 2.

I have read several threads here on Hard Drive compatibility and the issue of AFT but am unsure if this is indeed the cause of being unable to format as RAID 1. My two drives are:
1. Western Digital Caviar Green WD10EZRX
2. Western Digital Caviar Green WD10EARX

It seems that this are both AFT drives - is this causing the issue with RAID 1?
Any suggestions to enable me to get RAID 1 or is swapping the drives for something else my only option?

Advice is much appreciated, thanks.
