Streaming Video and Audio to an iPad - Which App to get?
« on: November 08, 2012, 04:05:47 AM »

Hi there,

I've had a DNS-320 for a couple of years and stream video to my PS3 via the standard in-built uPnP server.

I've just bought an iPad and wondered which App I should get from the Apple App Store. I don't mind paying but I want it to be good!

I've already tried a few of them with varying results:
Some can't see the NAS at all
Some can see the NAS but can't see the Network Share Names
Some can see the NAS and the Network Shares and the files but don't support the file types that are stored on the NAS. Mainly DivX / xVid

I asked the D Link Tech Support people via the support site when I was sorting a firmware upgrade issue but they said there were no D Link apps that support the DNS-320 and no 3rd party ones that they have used / tested.

Apologies if there is a thread on this already, I hate it when forum noobs just post! I have searched but I couldn't find a list of Apps that work and work well!

Thanks in advance...
Al

Hi,

The best app(as personal preference) is XBMC but only available for jailbreaked devices...this has nice easy interface and streams everything I have on the 320...otherwise goodplayer streams most of them, as boss has on his, without problems ;-)
