Manual IR mode records in color - help?
« on: November 20, 2012, 01:04:59 AM »

Hi All

I intend to use the DCS942L as an infrared night recording device at my universities mice facility. This place does not have internet access, so I have to configure it offline and set it up at night. However the result is less than ideal, and I seem to encounter two issues. I am very grateful for all the help that I can get.

One - I have updated to the newest firmware, and am using an external IR illuminator with the manual IR option. However, it seems to be recording in color rather than in IR mode. Also the quality seems to have degraded, even though I set the same bitrate (is it due to more colors being recorded?)

The first was taken in night mode with the normal IR illumination

Two - I need to have it record on a schedule. Does the DCS942L have an internal battery to hold time time? Because I need to move it from one place to another, and there will be periods of time when its not plugged in. My initial experience tells me no, but I would like a definitive answer.

Thank you all very much in advance for your help
