Every time I log on my DNS-343 I get this page that ask me to upgrade the OLED firmware and when I click start the OLED screed on the device freeze and the progress bar stays at 0% Initialization...
I have to unplug the device and replug it to get it working again. Anyone else had this issue?
I tired it with every firmware and it did the same with Firmware 1.03, 1.04 and 1.05.

Can we manually download a OLED firmware?

Does this message appear on the Web UI?  If so, what page of the Web UI and what actions do you perform to get the message?

Yes it's on the web UI, right after I log in, I get redirected to the page That tell me there might be a newer OLED firmware available for my DNS-343 and that I can check for it on the D-Link support page with two link to go there bellow the message I got a box titled: CURRENT OLED FIRMWARE INFO that says my OLED firmware version is 1.04 and my OLED firmware date is 11/24/2010 With only one action available it is a button Start, it's when I click this button that I get the symptom I described before.

The only way I can get out of this page without going through with this verification is by manually typing an URL to an other section of the Web UI.

When I go the the Maintenance / Firmware upgrade section of the Web UI it give me a different version for my OLED firmware (I must assume that the screen I see after log in display the NAS firmware version instead of the OLED one):
Current NAS Firmware Version :     1.04
Current OLED Firmware Version :     1.00.04152008

D-Link does not offer explicit OLED firmware updates. All updates are bundled in the primary DNS-343 firmware updates. I recommend using FW v1.05 or greater.

I've never read of any accounts of the DNS-343 prompting for OLED updates, leading me to believe something else is going on.  Here's something you can try:

• Save a copy of the DNS-343 Configuration Settings file  
  
• Reset the DNS-343 to the factory default settings. While the DNS-343 is powered-up, press and hold the reset button on the rear of the unit for > 8 seconds. This procedure will reset the DNS-343, including all user settings, to the factory defaults. Performing this procedure should not impact your data or HDD configurations.
• After you reset the factory defaults, upload a newer firmware version and upload the Configuration Settings file.

** Although the DNS-343 is designed to handle these changes without compromising data, you should always make a separate backup of all critical data before performing a firmware update or factory reset **

I proceeded as you sugested, The firmware update proceeded but after the NAs firmware it also try for the OLED firmware and exactly the same thing hapens. The OLED Display on the Unit is frozen ant no hardware button are working. Screenshot Bellow:

This is an issue I haven't seen before. I'm asking around to see if I can get some clarification and hopefully a resolution.

No news. Considering that the DNS-343 was phased out of production some time ago in favor of the DNS-345 and other new ShareCenter models, I'm not overly optimistic about new firmware releases for the DNS-343.

How long have you allowed the oled update to perform in the % screen?
I vaguely remember from the time I did the update you should allow it some significant timetime and it looks like it is frozen.

Yesterday I tried to let the OLED firmware update go through for 3 hours with no results.
I'm guessing my flash ROM is in read only mode.

iuliand didn't specify how long the job needed to run. I don't think it would hurt to let it run overnight and see if anything changes in the morning.

Unfortunately three hours should be enough.
I did not specified the time because I don't remember it exactly but I remember I had some emotions during that update...
