online gaming problem
« on: January 02, 2013, 08:02:48 AM »

Hi  :)
I am Trackmania UF/2 player. Or rather - I was. As long as I had some TP-Link, everything was allright. Then I bought DIR-645. In offline mode it goes like hell. When I go online, game starts lagging. Every cca 5sec comes about 1sec freeze. Unable to ride... :(
I've tried to reset router, disable FW in computer - nothing...
To DIR-645 connected also NAS Synology 212+, BD player Samsung xxxx and Technisat SIR
PC is running on W7 64bit
Has anybody any ideas?  :)

You might want to set up a QoS rule found int the FAQ Library for the DIR-645

Do you think this thread: http://forums.dlink.com/index.php?topic=44869.0 ?
First problem is I have partially different UI. But nevermind...
There is no my PC in "NUMBER OF DYNAMIC DHCP CLIENTS" table (columns "Reserve" and "Revoke" are missing too).  Nevertheless I've added DHCP reservation as shown. QoS enabled in different table - option "Priority by Lan port/Priority by protocol" is missing. Uplink/Downlink filled, Strict priority queue checked.
"Classification rules" table: Name - filled, Queue ID - Highest, Protocol - I don't know what is it so I left ALL. Local IP - PC's IP. Remote IP - I don't have any idea... Application port - I don't know, but in preferences dialog in TM are Server port: 2350 and P2P server port: 3450.
I can try both numbers of port servers but I still don't know the number of Remote IP... :(
Any ideas, please?

Yes thats the sticky.

Use 0.0.0.1 and 255.255.255.254 for Remote Ip Address ranges.

Still the same... :(
I can't understand it. With old heating TP-Link everything went smoothly. Any settings, classical PnP. And now...

Link>What Firmware version is currently loaded? Found on routers web page under status.
What region are you located?
Are you wired or wireless connected to the router?

What ISP Service do you have? Cable or DSL?
What ISP Modem do you have? Stand Alone or built in router?
What ISP Modem make and model do you have?
If this modem has a built in router, it's best to bridge the modem. Having 2 routers on the same line can cause connection problems.
Double NAT
To tell if the modem is bridged or not, look at the routers web page, Status/Device Info/Wan Section, if there is a 192.168.0.# address in the WAN IP address field, then the modem is not bridged.
If the modem can't be bridged then see if the modem has a DMZ option and input the IP address the router gets from the modem and put that into the modems DMZ.

Some things to try: - Log into the routers web page at 192.168.0.1. Use IE, Opera or FF to manage the router.
Turn off Advanced DNS Services if you have this option.
Turn on DNS Relay under Setup/Networking.
Setup DHCP reserved IP addresses for all devices ON the router. Setup/Networking. This ensures each devices gets its own IP address when turned on and connected, eliminates IP address conflicts and helps in troubleshooting.
Ensure devices are set to auto obtain an IP address.
Set Firewall settings to Endpoint Independent for TCP and UDP under Advanced/Firewall.

Enable uPnP and Multi-cast Streaming under Advanced/Networking. Disable uPnP for testing Port Forwarding rules.
WAN Port Speed set to Auto or specific speed? Some newer ISP modems support 1000Mb so manually setting to Gb speeds can be supported by the router. Advanced/Advanced Networking/WAN Port Speed

Set Time and Time Zone under Tools/Time.

FW: 1.01 Fri 08 Jul 2011, Czech republic, wired. Cable ISP. I have no modem I guess  :). Just cable from the wall attached to DIR-645. WAN IP is  188.175.***.*** so I think it's OK.
Other steps I'll try after reseting the router.

You also may want to use Virtual Server and see if this helps. Seems like this could be just a configuration issue here.

Keep us posted.

Reseted. New FW uploaded. DHCP reserved. QoS defined. Other advices applied. Nothing... :(
Strange is that in "Number of Dynamic DHCP Clients" list is for me unknown device COM-MID1. It has MAC address too. But I don't know what is it. Only PC and NAS are connected to DIR-645...
Which port numbers I have to write to windows in Virtual server?

Ensure that nobody else is using the WiFi and connected that way. Verify MAC addresses on the PC and NAS. There should only be 2 connected entries. Verify connected devices under Status/Device Info and Wireless.

I recommend that you contact the Mfr of the game to see if there are specific ports needed and use them. They should be able to help you out.
