Hi, I'  using the DAP-1360 as a range extender (repeater) with WPA2/AES and DHCP and my internet connection constantly drops (whole day online and  no internet access  problem 2-5 time per day). It has been like this for over 3 months. When the internet drops I stay connected to the wireless network and DAP-1360 have 192.254.x.x  IP address instead of a reserved IP from DHCP router. Sometimes takes about 1-5 minutes for it to reconnect, however at times it doesn't reconnect with the only solution being to reboot or power off/on  the repeater, where most of  client devices will be direct connect to main router (lower signal) and then I need to disable/enable the client devices to reconnect back to the repeater.
 I have tried everything from upgrading firmware to using numerous channels.  While  the internet connections drops , those clients devices connect directly to main router via cable LAN can access the internet, so it should not the ISP problem.   The only areas where WiFi doesn't work is in areas of the DAP-1360. My router/modem is the Dlink DIR-655. Any Solutions or Suggestions to how i can fix this?

my hardware version is B1 and the Firmware version is 2.14
my region is Thailand
my wireless mode is mixed  802.11n and 802.11g
my wireless channel fix to 6 ( used to be Auto channel scan and force to be same as router setting)
my channel width is Auto 20/40 mhz ( initially it will be 20 Mhz but sometimes system auto change to 40 Mhz)
the main router  has 82% signal with 130 Mbps to the dap-1360  (locate near stair first floor (main router) and  second floor (repeater)
my security mode is WPA2 Only/AES
Advanced wireless : default
off/diable  features:   Traffic Shaping, QoS Engine, WISH, WPS
inSSIDer 2.1 say my ssid  for repeater RSSI=-52, router RSSI=-58, other ISP SSID RSSI < -65, other channel 6  RSSI < -70

Ok, will  try this, turn off the WiFi on my main host router and then connect the 1360 up wired to the back of the main host router and set the 1360 up has a AP.  I need to put the repeater next to the main router during  this test, because I have only short LAN cable.  
From my issue, during the internet drop and stay connect to wireless is mean the repeater  still keep connect to their client devices but the repeater (IP 192.254.x.x) loss connect to the main host router, that why some client devices connect via the repeater cannot connect to internet while other client devices connect via the main router still connect  to the internet.

I concur with your assessment. This can be confirmed by looking at the Wireless Status page on your main router (DIR-655). The MAC address for your DAP-1360 should appear on this page when it's connected to your router in Repeater mode. Once your internet connection has dropped, it should no longer appear on this page, as the DAP-1360 and router are no longer connected. At this point, it appears from the client device that you are still connected to your entire network (including the internet), but it's only connected to the DAP-1360.

Once you've confirmed this, we can see if we can get the two to work together reliably.

Hi Larry,
Yes, during normal operation, I can see the MAC address of DAP-1360 appear on the Wireless status page when it's connected to DIR-655 router in Repeater mode. Once my internet connection has dropped, it's no longer appear on this page.  More elaborate, I can view admin page of the Repeater DAP-1360 and I cannot see Mac address of DIR-655 on the Wireless status page.  Also I cannot view the admin page of the DIR-655 from my notebook which connect via the repeater. I must go to a PC which wired connect to the DIR-655 router and then I can view admin page of the Router and I cannot see Mac address of DAP-1360 on the Wireless status page.

I have read all posts, either DAP-1360 and DIR-655, found that I may interest to join the hot post in "New DIR-655: wireless Internet occasionally drops out" by wireless925 to find out which devices cuase internet drop out.
my hardware version is A4 and the Firmware version is 1.35EA
my region is Thailand
my ISP Service is  DSL
my ISP Modem is Dlink 2640T Stand Alone, connection type=Bridge mode to DIR-655 router (I turn off wireless mode of Dlink 2640T which used to be my old ADSL wireless router)
Setup DHCP reserved IP addresses for all devices ON the router.
Ensure devices are set to auto obtain an IP address. (DIR-655 has fixed IP 192.168.0.1, DAP-1360 was assigned a DHCP reserved  IP 192.168.0.13.  I notice that I can browse to admin page of DAP-1360 with IP 192.168.0.50 or 192.168.0.13, while a Device Info of DAP-1360 said LAN IP is 192.168.0.13)   
my wireless mode is mixed  802.11n and 802.11g (I notice again that with DAP-1360 setup wizard, it will be assigned wireless mode to be mixed 802.1n/802.11g/802.11b)

One conclusion from my trial is DAP-1360 wizard setup is not the same as a manual setup that I try to match/sync with DIR-655 router setting.  I will keep many trials to find out a solution.   I need times to ensure that I will not face the internet drop out.

One last question:  At this point, can you still access the internet from your PC? If so, then your only problem is the DAP-1360 dropping the connect to the DIR-655. Otherwise, you have two separate, possibly unrelated, problems.

Most of your DIR-655 settings look good to me; however, the fact that you can access the DAP-1360 using two different IP addresses may be part of your problem. If 192.168.0.50 is within the DHCP IP Address Range on your DIR-655, simply add the DAP-1360 to the DIR-655's DHCP Reservation List with this as its IP address. If 192.168.0.50 is NOT within the DHCP IP Address Range of your DIR-655, you'll have to pick a new IP address for the DAP-1360, and use (change) it on the DAP-1360, as well as add it to the DIR-655's DHCP Reservation List.

If you have any trouble doing this, or have no idea what I'm talking about, let me know, as I'd be happy to provide more detail or walk you through the steps. Let me know once you get this fixed, and if it made any difference.

Appreciate your kind advice.
 DIR-655 have DHCP server setting range 192.168.0.10 - 192.168.0.99. DAP-1360 repeater has been  reserved DHCP IP 192.168.0.13. I did not assign any device reserve to be 192.168.0.50.
LAN setup within DAP-1360 , my LAN connection is Dynamic (DHCP), while IP address information in LAN setup page show 192.168.0.50 in protected grey color due to default value the factory.  Device information of DAP-1360 show Connection : Dynamic IP, IP Address : 192.168.0.13 .
A funny thing  is I can browse to DAP-1360 admin page with either 192.168.0.13 or 192.168.0.50, (also a Device name in LAN setup page)
So I'm not sure that the firmware of DAP-1360 or DIR-655 too much intelligence and this might not relate to the internet occasionally drops out.

According to some hint that I should hard reset DAP-1360 and then setup with a wireless setup wizard. I have done this while DIR-655 router has wireless setup as
 802.11 mode= mixed 802.11n and 802.11g
 wireless channel=6
 channel width=Auto (20/40MHz)

but the result that I get from DAP-1360 wireless setup wizard is
 802.11 mode=mixed 802.11n and 802.11g and 802.11b
 wireless channel=6 (in protected grey color)
 channel width=20MHz

Some times  device information of DIR-655 and DAP-1360 has the same channel width=20MHz and channel=6, but during this time I posting, DAP-1360 has  channel width=40 MHz, channel=6 while DIR-655 has channel width=20MHz, channel=6. inSSIDer amplitude chart confirm this result too.

Is it firmware error in DAP-1360 that cause the internet occasionally drop? (if I manually setup and create many working storage/counters)   24 hours pass now that I use wireless setup wizard and have internet access, no drop out.  If 2-3 days from now I have the same result I will report back to this forum.

One thing to consider here is that your DIR-655 Rev A is a draft N router, which means it never achieved full N certification status. There could be a WiFi compatibility issue between the 655 and the 1360.

I recommend that you find a fully certified N WiFi router to test with the 1360 Rev B since Rev B's I believe are certified N APs.

A users made note of this in other posts recently.

Are you saying the DAP-1360 Rev A is a draft N? It doesn't say that on the box!!!!

It's possible, Usually Rev As can be a form of draft N. Just depends on when this particular model was produced, before, during or after Draft N was finally certified and the DAP as certified as well.

I recheck info from the box/case of DIR-655 I kept, it is 802.11n draft logo as FurryNutz comment.
