Access to mydlink (web)
« on: January 21, 2013, 06:24:36 AM »

Hi there,
I am new with NAS and the DNS-320L is my first one. Pretty happy btw but just got an annoying issue.
I can access remotely to the console admin by taping accountname.dlinkddns.com in any browser but for some strange raison, I cannot access the NAS properly through the mydlink website. The issue is that it keeps loading and will never show the content of the NAS although I can get to the information tab and get the corresponding information.
I also got an android tab and the android app IS WORKING. I was able to perform slideshows with my pics and listen music (it won't apparently play movie though and did not find how to actually download the files).
Anyone would got some ideas?
I got a A2 revision apparently and firmware is 1.00.
Thanks.

Do you have register your nas into the mydlink app?

Yes, I  can clearly see it and the information tab will show without any issue. But it keeps loading to show the files and won't stop to do so no matter how long I wait.

Can anyone help me?

Here a screen (do not know whether it's safe to show the NAS id):

I can access the Setting tab without any pb and it shows valid informations.

edit: and as stated I can access it without any pb with the android application

Are you browsing on a PC that's in a corporate network or behind a firewall that can be blocking access? Did you try different browsers (e.g. IE, Firefox, etc.)

I got the issue with all browsers and the same at work (nothing is blocked there) and home when I try to use the mydlink site.

Could it still be an issue of forwarding the port in the router? I can remotely access the admin console using  account.dlinkddns.com though.

So here I am again. I am really tired about this now as I've been looking for hours several days.

I checked my netgear gateway once again (CBVG834G) and for some raisons I can't forward port 80 as it is said to be busy (apparently people thought it could be a nice feature to use port 80 to dispaly the actual web interface of the device). But uPnP is activated and it says that port 80 is forwarded to 192.168.0.15 which is the NAS as can be seen there

Apart from me being french what is the pb then?

Port Forwarding should not be needed if your DNS is connected to your NG gateway modem/router.
If PF is needed, uPnP should be disabled.

Ensure you are up to date on Java.
What browser are you using?
Try Opera or FF? If IE 8 or 9, set compatibility mode and test again.
Test your Gateway with Firewall settings OFF as a temporary test to see if this works.

I recommend contacting Netgear about any configurations, if needed,  on the NG gateway.

I am using Firefox 18.0.1 with the latest java (that is blocked by default by mozilla so had to manually allow it to run for this site).

The DNS is connected to my gateway modem/router. And the Firewall is already off. So not too sure about the uPnP vs port forwarding issue. I finally managed to get FTP access this morning but PF was definitvely required to do so.

Can you test with IE and see if it does the same thing? Try compatibility mode in IE as well.

Yes IE does the exact same thing even with compatibility mode.

Well, by the looks mydlink is seeing the DNS device, just getting full access is being hung up some where.

I would recommend that you check with NG support and see if there is anything on the gateway that needs to be configured maybe.

One other last resort option would be to find a friend, family or neighbor that you could take the DNS to and connect it on there network system and try to access mydlink from there or from you place. Won't matter where you access mydlink from. Might be a good test to see if the DNS is fully accessible from a different connected location.

Keep us posted on how it goes.

OK so here am I again after spending a good time on the dedicated board for my router. The conclusion was that port forwarding looks OK especially for port 80 because I can access the console admin remotely.

So as a summary, I can:
- access the console admin remotely (including up/download of files)
- up/download files with FTP
- access mydlink with full functionnalities using the android app
- establish connection with mydlink on any web browsers (just login and see the NAS is there including access to the informaions tab)

I cannot:
- view the files using mydlink from any web browsers because it will keeps loading the content as an infinite loop (see screen above)

So does this recap' provide some new insights to some of you guys? Can anyone access and use mydlink with any browser?

Just asking again my main question in case someone would have a look.

Can you guys use the mydlink website (so download / upload files from here) using Firefox or any other web browser?
