Hello! Virtual Servers not working. Using 1.4.2 (latest firmware). For example by defaults If you visits your internet IP you got router login page (this is also strange because remote access list is empty). if you specify Virtual HTTP Server (port 80) and visit again internet IP adress, browser reports about timeout.
If I try configure FTP (port 21) by defalt ftp client reports what "Connection refused by server", after adding it like virtual server Ftp client tells about timeouts and cannot connect to server after about 30 sec of hanging.
I used before DIR-100 and configure this rules whith out any problems, so I think it is router issue.

What region are you located?
Has a Factory Reset been performed?

What ISP Service do you have? Cable or DSL?
What ISP Modem make and model do you have?
Check ISP MTU requirements, Cable is usually 1500, DSL is around 1492 down to 1472. Call the ISP and ask.

Some things to try: - Log into the routers web page at 192.168.0.1. Use IE, Opera or FF to manage the router.
Turn off ALL QoS or Disable Traffic Shaping (DIR only) GameFuel (DGL only and if ON.) options. Advanced/QoS or Gamefuel.
Turn off Advanced DNS Services if you have this option under Setup/Internet/Manual or under Setup/PARENTAL CONTROL/Set to>None: Static IP or Obtain Automatically From ISP.
Enable Use Unicasting (compatibility for some ISP DHCP Servers) under Setup/Internet/Manual.
Turn on DNS Relay under Setup/Networking.
Setup DHCP reserved IP addresses for all devices ON the router. Setup/Networking. This ensures each devices gets its own IP address when turned on and connected, eliminates IP address conflicts and helps in troubleshooting.
Ensure devices are set to auto obtain an IP address.

Set Firewall settings to Endpoint Independent for TCP and UDP under Advanced/Firewall.
Enable uPnP and Multi-cast Streaming under Advanced/Networking. Disable uPnP for testing Port Forwarding rules.

Set current Time Zone, Date and Time. Use an NTP server feature. Tools/Time.

After firmware update full reset (10 sec reset holding) or from admin interface
ISP uses cable + VPN (PPTP + Dynamic IP) (Detailed instruction from ISP here http://help.sevstar.net/index.php?type=article&id=150) MTU is 1400 (or 1456) It is not critical option.
QoS set to zero
No Parental control
No Unicasting
DNS Relay turned on
My computer has reserver DHCP IP adress
uPnP on (were off, but this do nothing)
NTP shows time and date correctly

3 month passed and nothing more? No solutions, no firmware, no nothing... WHY?

Well, I've contacted regional d-link. Waited over a month for reply. Nothing. So I called them, after half an hour they said what my d-link is B2B revision and this revision no longer supported. Actual revision is B2C. And what I have to do now? Throw away this old B2B d-link and buy newer and wait for virtual server started working, or throw away all d-link hardware and never buy it again?

Sorry that you didn't get any solution for the DIR-300RU. I would give a different DIR series a try though. I presume that this problem is only localized to this model.

I would review this model and see if it would be a better solution:

I would ask your D-Link sales or support what they might recommend. I know the DIR L series routers are being supported since they are new. I currently have the DIR-826L, 868L and 810L here.

This thing costs about $80. It is too expensive for experiments. I would prefer some Mikrotik or Asus. Sorry too

By the way, a lot of people and even in the comments to the goods in the shops, they write that port forwarding - it's a sore spot router DIR-300 from revision 5 and other new DIR-600+. And so, I do not know how much quality, but I solved the problem.
After adding a virtual server (which then of course do not work), it is necessary to connect to the device via Telnet (thank you that even this works), log in and run two commands:

$ iptables -t nat -A POSTROUTING -j MASQUERADE
$ iptables-save
And magically starts working FTP and HTTP and even HTTPS.

Awesome work. Glad you found the fix. You might talk to D-Link for your region and ask them about this and see if this will help fix this issue in there FW.
