speed problem

i have problem with my router , with wireless i am getting less than 5 mbps but with direct cable its more than 30 mbps...
what is the solution for that?

i have tried to solve with resetting router more than 3 times but same situation......

and it is also blocking port number 5223 so i am not getting notification for my iphone... :(

What Hardware version is your router? Look at sticker under router.
Link>What Firmware version is currently loaded? Found on routers web page under status.
What region are you located?

Wireless is slower then LAN. Thats the nature of the beast.
WiFi is different from wired and will not have the same speeds as wired connections. Many factors contribute to wifi and it's operation.
* Maximum wireless signal rate derived from IEEE Standard 802.11g and 802.11n specifications. Actual data throughput will vary. Network conditions and environmental factors,
including volume of network traffic, building materials and construction, and network overhead, lower actual data throughput rate. Environmental factors will adversely affect
wireless signal range.


Try different testing sites.
Ensure your wireless adapter drivers are up to date for those that have or use drivers.

What wireless modes are you using? Under Setup/Wireless/Manual.
Try single mode G or mixed G and N?
Channel Width set for Auto 20/40Mhz or try 20Mhz only.
Try setting a manual channel to a open or unused channel.
What security mode are you using? Preferred security is WPA-Personal. WPA2/AES Only. Some WiFi adapters don't support AES, so you might want to try TPIK only or Auto.
Any other WiFi routers in the area? Use InSSIDer to find out.
Turn off Short GI, WLAN Partition and Extra Wireless Protection if you have it. Under Advanced/Advanced Wireless.

Enable WMM Enable Under Advanced/Advanced Wireless.

my wireless network connection is good but from 15 days i am noticing that from 5-10 pm its not giving speed as much as before it gives......than later on i tried every time direct cable broadband connection to my pc and speed is more than 30 mbps ....but same time with router it gives less than 5 or sometimes less than 2 mbps....other than this time with router speed is also good nearly 15 to 20 mbps....
and important thing is with cable though router also giving me low speed, only direct broadband cable boosts my speed...


My network drivers up to date..
and i did whatever you said ..
my wireless network card is Broadcom 802.11n Network Adapter...

and one more important qoe which time zone i should choose?
i am living in chernivtsi, ukraine....there is no option of my county or capital??
and here time zone is GMT +2

Any cordless house phones?
Any other WiFi routers in the area? Link> Use InSSIDer to find out. How many?

If your noticing a drop in speed at the same time frame during the day, could mean that others near by or something near my could be the cause of the interferences and speed drop.

Pick a time zone that best fits GMT +2. There should be one that fits the time zone.

i live in hostel there many wireless router but most of them have tplink and some of them have dlink.....
but they never turns off their router as well as i...

and during law download speed there is good upload speed.. what could be reason of it?

You say many other Wifi? This is probably the reason. Having more than say 4-5 other routers near by, they are using up the available channels, some probably being on the same channel which is not good either. All this is probably going on on the 2.4Ghz frequency. Think of it as a busy restaurant with many people and they are all talking at the same time, you and your guest sitting at the same table and sometimes it hard to hear what they are saying when the back ground and around you, is other people taking and noise as the same time. Similar to what the WiFi router is having to deal with. I call this WiFi congestion on 2.4Ghz.

You might considering getting into a 5Ghz AP and updating your PC to a 5Ghz adapter. You could still use the 615 as your main router however just turn OFF the WiFi radio on it and use the 5Ghz AP as your WiFi. If your in close proximity to the AP from the PC with out alot of walls and building material, this could be a good solution for you.

i understood that but with cable through router it shouldn't depend on frequency .....

so than why it's still effecting speed with cable? thats way i think it is problem with router setting or server may be..what do you say?

What ISP Service do you have? Cable or DSL?
What ISP Modem make and model do you have?

Some things to try: - Log into the routers web page at 192.168.0.1. Use IE, Opera or FF to manage the router.
Turn off ALL QoS or Disable Traffic Shaping (DIR only) GameFuel (DGL only and if ON.) options. Advanced/QoS or Gamefuel.
Turn off Advanced DNS Services if you have this option under Setup/Internet/Manual.
Turn on DNS Relay under Setup/Networking.
Setup DHCP reserved IP addresses for all devices ON the router. Setup/Networking. This ensures each devices gets its own IP address when turned on and connected, eliminates IP address conflicts and helps in troubleshooting.
Ensure devices are set to auto obtain an IP address.
If IPv6 is an option on the router, select Local Connection Only or Disable IPv6 options under Setup/IPv6.
Set Firewall settings to Endpoint Independent for TCP and UDP under Advanced/Firewall.
Test with SPI ON and OFF.

Enable uPnP and Multi-cast Streaming under Advanced/Networking. Disable uPnP for testing Port Forwarding rules.

Check cable between Modem and Router, swap out to be sure.

Turn off all anti virus and firewall programs on PC while testing. 3rd party firewalls are not generally needed when using routers as they are effective on blocking malicious inbound traffic.

i have tried to open this site after disabling Qos but could't open it....

so i re-enabled it, than again i could open this site....

so however my router is blocking port no 5223 by default, what to do in such case?

I'm recommending that you phone contact our local regional DLink support office and have them help you with your router. Keep us posted on how it goes.
