I'm not sure but I think that 320 uses EXT3 file system while 320L uses EXT4. It does not automatically mean that HDDs from 320 cannot be used in 320L (maybe 320L works fine with disks formatted with EXT3) but there's no guarantee.

Hola, can anyone confirm if this works? Got a DNS-320 sat here with a pair of 1.5TB drives in RAID 1. Want to transfer over to my newly purchased DNS-320L as easily as possible  :)

Regardless of whether this procedure works or not, you should make sure you have a separate physical backup of your data before performing any data migration procedure (if you don't already have one).

I asked the same question on the DNS-320 forum and answered it myself several days later when I received the 320L the answer is NO. I tried and the 320L wanted to format my drives, needless to save I didn't let it.

So it looks like I will have to purchase a couple of 3/4TB drive in the near future and copy the lot across which will take many many hours.

There is high degree of cross compatibility between ShareCenter models (i.e. not all models) for HDDs configured as Standard Volumes, but RAID and JBOD configurations are almost never backwards compatible due to evolving changes to the filesystem.
