DNS 320L need to set RAID after Shut down or off the device
« on: March 06, 2013, 07:16:06 AM »

I bought this product last week, everything working fine after following the instructions CD Start Here. After uploading some data, then I switch off the device when go to bed, the next morning sudden force this issue. After that, I follow the instructions on the screen of "Set RAID" (format hard disk) .. then I click Shut down option, the problem reoccurs.

This is DNS320L normal operating condition? There is no point if I buy this product every time off the device will lose all my data. For your info, I used web interface management (Firefox, Chrome).. try access from Windows 7 and Ubuntu Linux same.. after format hard disk and if i don't what to shut down.. every is fine Maping Network drive (Win7) and Nautilus File Manager (samba)..

Please help me.. :(

What firmware version is installed?

You can try performing a factory reset.  While the DNS-320L is powered up, press and hold the "Reset" button on the rear of the unit for > 8 seconds. Next load the latest D-Link published firmware (or reload the current version if it's already the latest).

Make sure your Firmware version is stable.  For the United States, the latest release is v1.01b03

Hy JavaLawyer..

Previous NAS firmware version is v1.00, after follow your instructions, RESET>upload latest version firmware 1.0b03 (download from Dlink official website).. then I need to do Setup Wizard again (like first time).. After formatting Hard drive, I upload a few data like picture, movie and etc..

The result is same after shutdown or switch off the ShareCenter DNS-320L.. I mean after login back, system suggest to me Set RAID again.. :-[

Tomorrow I will take my DNS-320L and send to Dlink Local agent (Malaysia) for trouble shooting. (because still under warranty)

Thanks for your support!!

Sounds like you may have a defective unit, unless the HDDs themselves are causing the problem.  As long as the DNS-320L is under warranty, you should try to get an RMA for a replacement unit (or return to the vendor for a replacement).
