Sharecentersync backup
« on: March 07, 2013, 04:11:56 PM »

Hi all,

hope somebody can help, I have setup my DNS320L, all running fine, I have a number of user accounts with quotas etc etc, again all seeming to run fine.
I have my NAS running on a static IP using DDNS.

Only trouble I have and I think it is permissions on the backup, I cannot get the ShareCenterSync Backup to run, I setup the backup using the wizard, all sets up fine, only trouble it would seem it will only allow an anonymous account.

I want to backup my PC (using the full backup to the NAS). Have I missed something during the setup? Or do I have to allow anonymous onto the drive/folder (which I don't really want to do if I can help it).

Hope somebody can give me a pointer.

Many thanks

Darren

Anybody else have this issue? I still can't set the sync backup working, it is due to the account being set as annonymous.

I can't get my first backup to work either, not sure it is quite the same issue as yours, but I also couldn't see how to set up an account to avoid using Anonymous.

If I do try to use Anonymous, backups fail part way through (evry time, and I've tried about 10 times now) whether on Incremental or Full backup, and it fails both when started 'manually' and when left to start at the scheduled time.

Logs are less than useful - no meaningful info in the error message, just a 'Failed to write to directory...'

I am getting partial/incomplete copies of my folders/files on my NAS, sometimes larger than others, but an unreliable backup is no good to me.

I'm running the backup connected wirelessly. While I don't think it's network issues, I will try it via a LAN cable to see if that sorts it.

The latest version from the website now fixes this issue.

I have also found when reformatting the firmware/software resets the server group to HOMEGROUP

Normally it is HomeGroup (case Sensitive) and this causes problems after setup unless you rename it, it's easy to miss as well.
