D-ViewCam 2.03 and Vista Ultimate
« on: May 02, 2009, 11:19:53 AM »

I have a horrible time with this software trying to get it to run on Vista Ultimate 32 bit. Whenever I run it, I continually get the message D-ViewCam has stopped working. It says that "A problem caused the program to stop working correctly. Windows will close the program and notify you if a solution is available." I press the button to close the program, and then I continue to get this message even though the program is no longer open. I have to do a shut down and restart to get the messages to stop. And of course, if I don't close the program, I can use the interface, but no recordings happen. Does this program work at all??

Yeah it works great in Vista Ultimate. That is the OS I run on my testing machine. Are you running any anti-virus or personal firewall software on your PC?

Problem is the program doesn't support 64bit vista or xp. Which is simply a complier setting and doesn't justify the delay in releasing an updated application.

I wish I had seen this before I bought the camera. ::)

Unless I've missed it, I see no mention in the included documentation that the software included with the camera will not run on a 64 bit OS.  Was that oversight or intentional deception??? >:(

Programs that run in 64-bit are labeled to support 64-bit under the requirements and there is usually a separate driver or a whole other version of software for 64-bit.

So, is there any 64-bit software available to use this camera?

Thanks!

I'm also sitting here patiently twiddling my thumbs waiting for Dlink to update their software for 64-bit processors... Sure would like to use my 5300G with my Laptop that goes with me everywhere!!!

Look in any brick and mortar computer stores these days - the vast majority are all bragging "Vista64 bit - Windows 7 updatable"...

Really would be nice to have some software that would work on 64 bit, more and more computers are using 64 bit operating system. After buying a total of 14 dlink ip cameras I then had to but blue iris so I can use them...

Unfortunately we do not have any 64bit software for these cameras. I have requested a 64bit version of D-ViewCam and noted the demand for this in hopes for priority since many more people are now using 64bit processors.

I have had the same problem.  I wonder why tech support never mentioned the 64 bit issue!

Ugh, at least this forum exists... I've been sitting on a DSC-920 for nearly 6 months. I'm glad to know that this is a known problem--I was just about to simply throw the thing away due to the same software issues reported on this thread. Disappointing to say the least...I purchased partly due to expecting good quality software from D-Link, my opinion has been changed.

Damn, I was banging my head on my desk for a few hours yesterday trying to figure what's wrong with DView on my 64 bit Windows 7.

Now I know why.  I should have bought from a different manufacturer, but I thought it's better to get a dlink since all my hardwares are dlink (router, switches, NASes, etc...).

I have the software working within the "Windows XP Mode" virtual machine within Windows 7 Ultimate 64-bit.  I had to install the .NET framework within the virtual machine first to get it to successfully install.  If you're not familiar with Windows XP mode, go to http://www.microsoft.com/windows/virtual-pc/download.aspx

You don't have to be super-technical to get it to work.

We still need a 64 bit version of the software as some of us are running Vista/XP 64 bit.

If you are running a single camera you can view the broadcast with your web browser and discard D-viewer. Http into the camera’s IP or route it through the net (port forwarding also) for remote viewing.

The only advantage I find that I miss not having the D-Viewer in 64-bit is the ability to view multiple cameras on one screen.  I’ve been using the DCS-950G cameras for quite a while and still thing Dlink has the best cameras out there in the consumer price ranges.

On my 32-bit windows machine with D-viewer I have 6 family cameras configured all from different parts of the country.  I’ve gotten DCS-950G’s, 920’s and 6620G all up online. I wish I had the D-viewer ability on my 64-bit laptop but I’ve adapted to the wait for the new software updates. I've been looking for other software that might bring all these cameras up but have yet to find any. Remote viewer didn't work but I'm still looking.

I have no complaints about the cameras but am getting impatient waiting for the software.

Edit: My above line that says I can''t find software - Wrong. Finding this forum made me start the search again. Found IPview pro. Installed it on a 64-bit vista and it has all the cams up..
