Okay So I seen they`re on NewEgg for 44.95 as a referb, Never owned D-Link in the past really, Just Linksys/Cisco, Netgear(Which I Hate) ASUS and so fourth. My Fav so Far is the Asus RT-56u which I sold, But thinking about buying again after having a bad experiences with my RT-N66u.

Well anyways I Thought about maybe buying this as I like the looks and GUI and settings of D-Link, I`ll have about 25 devices connected at once, and about 3 of those would be via wireless the rest will be through a switch.  But Can the 4500 handle that? I`ve seen a LOT of posting about Wireless Drop outs and slow downs and such, Should I go with the Older DGL-4500 ? Back to the ASUS RT-N16, or RT-N56u, OR a different D-Link Product I like the Menus and stuff on Dlinks but so many issues ive read about.

I`d like to order by tonight to hopefully have it by the weekend. Thanks

25 devices should be no problem. Just be aware that Mac Filtering is limited by 24 rules only and can't be changed. Also be aware that the 4500 is a dual band WiFi however it only does either 2.4Ghz or 5Ghz at a time. Not both simultaneously. So if most of your devices are mixed with supporting either radio, you'll only be able use one or the other. Also this router does not support IPv6 and won't in the future.

Over all, this router is a rock solid router and great for general purposes and gaming.

Thanks for getting back to me.  Don`t really care for Mac Filtering nor the 5Ghz only the Mobile devices have it, and a very old Wireless A Card in a computer so 5ghz wont get used. I just want a router that does a GREAT job at routing lol I`m gonna buy it I guess and report back in a few days when it gets here.  I have a 25meg connection

EDIT: I see something that might make me not buy it. Its CPU is only 275mhz?? That is a bit slow. I had an OLD WRT54 with a 250mhz cpu and with my connection When running DD-wrt or Tomato its CPU goes to 100%

How are the newer D-Link routers compaired to the DGL-4500.?

Awesome, I just had one of my 4500's online as the main host router just last week for a couple of week for testing. Router is a great router. Had a good time gaming and such. I have a 50/2 ISP service here.

I think you'll enjoy it.

The 4500 is a durable and fast enough router. Not sure what your network needs are aside the amount of devices being connected...

I`m between the DGL-4500 or the ASUS RT-N16

Ya, the N16 is similar to the DIR-825. The N16 has simultaneous WiFi where the 4500 doesn't.  

The DIR-825 is a great router too. Atheros 9132, 400MHz

Just loaned my out to my gaming buddy down the road.

Thats a tough call. If you can find a DIR-825 C1 at 45$ then grab it. But if your comparing a refurbished, non C1 DIR-825 to a brand new RT-N16U then go with the RT-N16U. If your going to flash 3rd party firmware, then go with the RT-N16U, no contest. Also, take note, the USB isn't that much of a issue because you can always use a USB hub,  you will just get less throughput.

DIR-825 C1 75$ @ Newegg
CPU: 560Mhz
RAM: 128MB
Flash: 16MB
Wireless: 2.4 OR 5Ghz but 600Mbps max rate.
Pro: Faster CPU, better support, cheaper.
Con: Less UI features

RT-N16U 88$ @ Newegg
CPU: 480Mhz
RAM: 128MB
Flash: 32MB
Wireless: 2.4hz AND 5Ghz max 300Mbps rate.
Pro:2 USB, better 3rd party support, 3x2dBi vs only 2X2dBi=hyperthetical greater range. Cloud, torrent downloader and some other features.
Con: UI is more complex.

By the way, what bad experiance did you have with the RT-N66U? Did you get one of the early models? First ones to roll off the line basically had broken firmware. Like would not work AT ALL broken. Within about 2 weeks though they had a new firmware and pulled alot of inventory from their vendors to replace it with the new ones. Huge mistake on Asus part, but atleast they fixed it quick and I believe it's the best consumer router on the market IMHO.
