Hi All,
Hoping someone might have a bit of advice...

- D-Link DPR-1260 Print Server
- Belkin Pre-N Wireless Router
- Dell 1720DN Printer
- Windows XP, SP2

No matter what I've tried, I CANNOT, for the life of me, even access the print server.  I haven't even been able to tell if the print server will even work with my printer.

I acquired this print server through a friend of a friend.  I reset the router to factory default (using reset on back of unit).  I've tried to access the printer server any number of ways... made sure UPnP is enabled but not showing up in Network Places, tried accessing via MAC address (http://dlinkps-XXXXXX and http://dlink-xxxxxx), reset my router to IP address 198.168.0.1 (previously 198.168.2.1) so that it falls into the same range as default IP address for print server (198.168.0.10), etc., etc., etc.  No response when I ping 198.168.0.10.  Router indicator light is showing that print server is connected via ethernet cable, print server indicator light is showing connection to the router, but that's it!

Since I cannot access the print server, I don't know if the firmware has been updated beyond the first release (1.00).  I know that after firmware version 1.12, the DPR-1260 is defaulted to DHCP unless the unit was previously configured for a Static IP Address (which I also don't know if it was).  MAC address of print server is not showing up in my router's DHCP client list.

PLEASE HELP!!

Have your tried resetting the printserver? Also if that unit is updated which it may be it will pull DHCP from your router.

I'm having the exact same problem with the DPR-1260 and a Belkin N+ router.  The original poster stated that he reset the print server as I did as well.  Was there any resolution to this problem?

I see posts with slightly different subject lines referring to this same issue.  Mine is the same...have a Dlink DPR1260 that's been working fine for several years. Qwest DSL updated their modem, now I can't get the DPR1260 to connect, tried to reset (the button on the back ) and can't get it to connect and I'm not even sure at this time it reset correctly. BTW Qwest says it's not their problem. Lots of help there....

Like the first poster above, Router indicator light is showing that print server is connected via ethernet cable, print server indicator light is showing connection to the router, but that's it!

The DPR1260 does show up in the routers dhcp list, but can't connect with that ip address either.

Any help will be appreciated.

I GOT IT I GOT IT

wire the DPR1260 directly to your computer

go to 'networks' on Vista

look for the Dlink router to show up

Double click the router and it should bring up internet explorer or your default browser. then you can go in and change your settings!

I called customer support and the guy was very helpful even though this router is so far out of warrranty. Excellent customer service in my opinion- I also told him I see that problem A LOT on the forums.

I can post a sequence of screenshots if anyone needs it....
