Hi all, I've done a search and can't find the answer, but hopefully someone here can help.

I've compared the specs and there doesnt seem to be a huge difference between the 320 and 320L - apart from the 320L supports myDlink - does the 320 not support this?

I see also the 320 is discontinued, however amazon has it for about £40 vs £76 for the 320L.

Could someone make some suggestions too - basically I'm after a NAS to store photos etc on, as my laptop is slowly filling up and for the price of portable hard drives it seems a NAS would be similar price and easier to upgrade - I like the idea of being two bays, so I can get a second disk later on when I fill the first drive.

Why not also consider 325? Same Cloud support and hardware spec as for 320L. Still in production and the best looking in the crop, IMHO.

dns-320 = 800mhz processor, 128mb ram
dns-320l = 1ghz processor, 256mb ram
dns-325 = 1.2 ghz processor, 256mb ram.
processor speed its not an huge difference (tho dns-320l is pretty slow sometimes, with even lower clock 320  should be even slower), lower ram can be a problem if you want to use advanced services with fun plug etc.

The DNS-320L openly supports 4TB HDDs. The DNS-320/325, thus far, were not openly advertised as supporting HDDs > 3TB.

true but probably because they are older models so dlink its not intrested anymore in testing them against new drives.
there are any proof that 4tb drives dont work with those?

There is no known track record or testing of 4TB HDD formatting, stability, and data integrity on the DNS-320/325. Although it's theoretically possible that 4TB+ HDDs will operate on these units (i.e. full support for the AFT addressing schema should be extensible to all HDDs >2TB), I would be very cautious when it comes to trusting critical data on an unproven storage platform.  There may be undocumented limitations centric to these older ShareCenter models.

Cheers for the replies, in the end I managed to get a good price on a 320L, so have got that now - arrived today!

I'm having some issues getting the setup wizard from the cd set up things like the mydlink. It sees the nas, but then rejects the password as a few others have noted. I can log in fine through the web page to the nas, so the password is correct.

I've tried adding latest firmware and a few factory resets but it still rejects the password. I've also disabled all firewalls etc, but that also has no effect.

Any ideas?

Download the latest Setup Wizard. Updates to firmware and the mydlink service may have rendered the copy on the CD incompatible.

Where can I get the latest version, as the taiwan site above and also the UK site both show version 1.0.0.0, which is the same that's on my CD....

Sorted it. Turns out the software isn't compatible with Windows 8. I managed to borrow a windows vista laptop (my work laptop was locked down so it couldnt even find the NAS!) and it worked straight away. Not ideal but hopefully won't need to run that again
