Hi there,
i'm new for this device and just update firmware to 1.01b3. I've checked the lan link speed, it cannot select 1000 (only auto/100) since i know that this device support to Gigabit connection.

note: all connection equipment are Gigabit.



please suggest me

Is there any indication on the connection from the 320L that the link speed is 1000Mb when in Auto mode? If you have a network switch with LED indication, does the 320L show up as connected at 1000Mb on the switch?

There maybe only 2 option settings for the 320L, Auto and 100, Auto being auto detect 1000 or 100Mb and no static 1000Mb setting.

Is this option listed in the User Manual?

The DNS-320L UI contains an explicit option for 1000.

Link Speed:    [  ] Auto   [  ] 100   [  ] 1000

Here's an excerpt from the DNS-320L manual:

Link Speed:
Select either Auto (Auto-Negotiate), 100Mbps, or
1000Mbps from the drop-down menu. Click the Save
Settings button to save the new settings.

The three options are available on all ShareCenter models.

maybe a defective cable (ethernet 100mbit  uses only 4 wires of the 8 in a rj45 cat 5 cable, 1000mbit requires all 8 so its possible for a cable to have a couple wires broken and still work at 100mbit) and the option get disabled because the cable is phisically unable to go at 1000mbit speed?

Is the 1000Mb option removed if a 100Mb connection is actually made? I would think the 1000Mb option would be a static option displayed in the UI at all times.

dns-320l connected to gbit switch = auto/100/1000 option
dns-320l connected to 100mbit router = auto/100 option, 1000mbit disappears.

if you remove the cable from the ethernet port you get... nothing, as you cant connect to the device anymore to watch its web page

Interesting, the options are not static in the UI, rather connection sensitive.

Hi all, thanks for you all help to comment.



I just check the Lan connection speed between my computer to gigabit switch. It showing only 100Mbps only whereas last 3 weeks show 1 Gbps before send motherboard (asus rampage iv extreme) to repair. After my motherboard come back i never check.

This morning i put Gigabit PCIe lan card (Realtek chip) for test on motherboard. it also show 100 mbps not 1 gbps. I check the advance setting of card and disable any green or energy saving option but still not ok whereas success gigabit earlier .

Cable I'm currently using CAT6
- 5 meters from computer to Gigabit Switch D-Link DGS-1005A (http://www.dlink.com.sg/products/?idproduct=504&idCategory=215)
- 2 meters from switch to DNS-320L
- 1 meter from switch to Linksys X2000 (not gigabit) for internet using.


I think!
1. As mention from NixZero, No 1000 available in menu because no actual 1000 connecting to devise?
2. My switch is damage?
3. My cable has problem?

please help to share your idea and apologize for my english

my problem is solved, just change the new cat6 cable option 1000 is visible in menu

The old one is also cat6 but 5 meters new is 2 and 3 meters. it may cause from quality  .

I'm glad everything worked out.  You would be surprised how often bad cabling is the cause for data throughput, packet loss, and other quality of service issues.
