Thanks for the heads-up.  I know the new NA firmware v1.04 too new to have much experience yet, but is there a central place for discussion of problems (or problem fixes) in it?

Do you have a sense of whether it has fixed any of the issues we have been discussing (especially the vanishing password issue)?

I have been testing with the DIR645 (FW1.04) in the past days. I noticed that it looses the admin password too.

When I changed the settings in the area Setup-NetworkSettings, then clicked on Save. The DIR645 automatically reboots and lost its password.

Was a factory reset, send the FW file, factory reset once more and reconfigure from scratch using IE or FF performed? This issue has been fixed as I've verified it on mine. It should be working for you if you got the recent release.

Ok, thanks. I'll try. I have FW1.04B05 running (which is the newest from D-Link support web site). The newest FW in this forum topic seems to be 1.04B10.

Running FW 1.04 and still have persistent issues with admin pw reset to blank when power cycled or by selecting reboot device.

  • What region are you located?
  • Are you wired or wireless connected to the router?
  • Has a Factory Reset been performed?
  • Was a Factory Reset performed before and after any firmware updates?
  • Was the router working before any firmware updates?


What browser are you using?
Try Opera or FF? If IE 8 or 9, set compatibility mode and test again.
Try turning off these features in Chrome:
Top right corner, little bars for options > Settings > Settings (on left) > Show advanced settings.
Uncheck these:
Use a web service to help resolve navigation errors
Use a prediction service to help complete searches and URLs typed in the address bar
Predict network actions to improve page load performance
Enable phishing and malware protection

Western US
Factory reset before FW update
Router came with 1.01 installed and did NOT work properly prior to FW upgrade.
Wired and wireless no difference. Wired - XP Pro SP3, Wireless -  Win 7 Pro
FF v 22.0, IE 10, Chrome v 28.x - all same result

FW re-downloaded and re-installed, same result
