DIR-655-Time_DNS_Password_Problem
« on: April 07, 2013, 10:04:02 PM »

I have some questions about DIR-655 want to ask.
1.I use it as a AP, no connection in the internet port, however I only see the DNS setting in the WAN interface, so some url setting can not normally run. Do it has AP mode or other setting that can resolve the DNS.

2.I notice that the Time will suddenly wrong something, even I set it to use local time or ntp.

3.I change the wireless setting to WPA Enterprise, and notice that always disconnect and reconnect, When it is disconnect, notebook and phone can not search the wireless, but ping in local is still alive, log also only show that reconnect, what is happen?

4.I run the internet wizard (not at beginning), I do not change new password in the second phase of wizard, however, after the end of wizard, restart the DIR 655, I can not use the password I set before to login and also I try to leave blank in password flied, it also failed, I use the same password in the user(not admin), I can login, is it the bug of wizard, if this situation need to reset the router, can I take the config first?

What Hardware version is your router? Look at sticker under router.

What region are you located?

When in AP mode, DNS is not needed as the only operation in this mode is pass thru. DNS is not funtional as it's dependent upon the WAN port connection

Does using WPA2 and AES only have the same result?
What browser are you using?
Try Opera or FF? If IE 8 or 9, set compatibility mode and test again.

Try running thru the entire wizard process. Doe it work then?
Can you manually set the Admin PW under Tools/Admin and will the PW stick?

I want to use ntp with the url name, but the DNS not function can not sync.(dynamic IP server)

2.I notice that the Time will suddenly wrong something, even I set it to use local time or ntp.
Time is not funtional as it's dependent upon the WAN port connection
If the time is not function, the log time also wrong. (Do WPA Enterprise will depend on time? AD Server is usually depend of server time.)

3.I change the wireless setting to WPA Enterprise, and notice that always disconnect and reconnect, When it is disconnect, notebook and phone can not search the wireless, but ping in local is still alive, log also only show that reconnect, what is happen?

If I change back to the WPA2 with AES, it seem no problem.(Before I set to Enterprise mode, I used teh WPA2 with AES, it was no problem.
I try to use maxthon, IE, Firefox, Google Chrome, the reconnection problem still occured.

Can not run the wizard again in user account, but the Admin PW is gray out and some blank. (At last I reset the router.)

I believe you need to load correct FW to this model since your HW Rev and region are specific. NA region FW is different and not supported on EA or any other region HW.

Please download the correct region FW code from here:
D-LInk - Taiwan

Please follow this for updating FW:

Thanks for your reply, it occur the below error.
The uploaded firmware file may not be correct. You may have uploaded a file that is not intended for this device, or the uploaded file may be corrupted.

If the uploaded file is correct, it is possible that the device may be too busy to properly receive it right now. In this case, please try the upload again. It is also possible that you are logged in as a 'user' instead of an 'admin' - only administrators can upload new firmware.

The Gateway will not be reprogrammed.

You'll need to phone contact your regional local DLink support office and get this into RMA.

Good Luck.
