DIR-615 Antenna problems
« on: April 11, 2013, 10:56:59 PM »

Hi. I have a DIR-615 obviously. After a few years of very reliable service both of my antenna happened to break. (Yay careless family).

I am able to remove the antenna and inside both of the connectors are snapped off so my range is short if any connection at all. I don't have any clue when it comes to replacement antenna. Would any antenna I buy from bestbuy/raidoshack/etc work or do I have to find a specific and compatible one? If so, could someone please recommend some/one?

Thanks

Link>Welcome!
What Hardware version is your router? Look at sticker under router.
Link>What Firmware version is currently loaded? Found on routers web page under status.
What region are you located?

Are the connectors on the router undamaged?

Thanks for the reply.

I have hardware version B2
My Firmware version is 2.25

The connectors on the router are undamaged. The part that is damaged is the little pin thing that sticks out of the antenna that you screw into the router.

I'm located on the East Coast USA

I would phone contact, either sales or tech support and ask if they have any stock or send out replacement antenna.

If they don't you, could see if places like eBay, Amazon or NewEgg have some replacements or some 3rd party Mfr antenna.
If you can find anything there, you could check out these guys:
http://hawkingtech.com/products/wireless/antennas_and_boosters/hai7sip.html
Click on the How It Works to see a picture of it. Others have connected these to DLink routers.

Lastly, if nothing above seems to work for you, you could just turn off the radio on the 615 and connect one of these as the Wireless radio:
D-Link DAP 1360, 1513, 1522, 1525, 1533

You would get the benefit of upgrading the WiFi to using both 2.4 and 5Ghz radios for better flexibility and operation.

Let us know how it goes.
